Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.​

What You’ll Do

As an MRI Technologist, you’ll play a vital role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging to support early detection, diagnosis, and patient care.

MRI Technologist Job Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures and ensuring their physical and psychological comfort.

  • Select and adjust imaging protocols based on diagnosis and patient condition.

  • Start IVs and administer contrast media safely, following ACR guidelines.

  • Maintain equipment and report malfunctions promptly.

  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely imaging.

  • Train and orient new staff, students, and job shadows.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation processes.

  • Clinical setting with direct patient care responsibilities.

  • Physical demands include standing/walking for extended periods, lifting patients (up to 35 lbs unassisted), and pushing equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent certificate in Radiography or MRI.

  • Certification: ARRT MRI registration and current CPR certification required.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of MRI experience preferred.

  • Skills: Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI equipment, and sterile techniques. Excellent communication and patient care skills.
