The Vice President of Payor Relations is a senior executive responsible for enterprise-wide payor strategy, contracting, relationship management, reimbursement optimization, and network growth.
The VP partners with Revenue Cycle, Finance, Clinical Operations, Admissions, Utilization Management, Legal/Compliance, and Executive Leadership to maximize reimbursement, improve patient access, reduce authorization barriers, and support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute enterprise-wide payor and contracting strategy.
Lead negotiations, renewals, amendments, and lifecycle management for commercial, government, and specialty payor contracts.
Negotiate reimbursement rates, single-case agreements, out-of-network arrangements, and alternative/value-based payment models.
Manage strategic relationships with national and regional payors, including executive business reviews and issue escalation.
Identify and resolve systemic authorization, denial, underpayment, claims, and reimbursement issues.
Analyze contract performance, reimbursement trends, and market dynamics to maximize net revenue and reduce leakage.
Partner with Utilization Management and Clinical Operations to improve authorization outcomes and advocate for evidence-based eating disorder treatment.
Build and lead a high-performing Payor Relations/Contracting team and participate on the Executive Leadership Team.
Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive healthcare payor contracting/managed care experience.
5+ years in senior leadership with responsibility for contracting and payor strategy.
Proven success negotiating national and regional payor agreements.
Strong knowledge of behavioral health reimbursement methodologies.
Experience managing complex, multi-site or multi-state healthcare organizations.
Demonstrated record of improving reimbursement and contract performance.
Preferred: Experience in eating disorders, behavioral health, mental health, substance use, or specialty healthcare; RTC/PHP/IOP contracting; private equity-backed organizations; and value-based/alternative payment models
