Job Description

Senior Forward Deployed Engineer - Okta for AI Agents

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer - Okta for AI Agents in Canada.

This is a high-impact, customer-embedded engineering role focused on securing the next generation of AI-driven systems. You will work directly with enterprise clients to design and deploy identity and security infrastructure for AI agents operating in production environments. Acting as both a hands-on engineer and strategic advisor, you will build and integrate secure, scalable solutions that govern how agents authenticate, access systems, and execute tasks. The role blends deep technical execution with customer-facing leadership across security, identity, and platform teams. You will operate in fast-moving enterprise environments where AI agent adoption is emerging and security models are still being defined. Your work will directly influence production deployments and shape how organizations safely adopt agentic AI. This is a highly autonomous role suited for builders who thrive in complex, real-world enterprise systems.

Accountabilities:

You will serve as a senior technical partner embedded within enterprise customer environments, leading the deployment of secure AI agent identity frameworks while actively contributing hands-on engineering work:

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor for AI agent security, participating in architecture reviews, engineering standups, and incident response discussions with client teams
  • Design and implement end-to-end identity and authorization architectures for AI agents, including delegation, auditability, lifecycle management, and kill-switch mechanisms
  • Integrate identity, access, and security tooling into customer ecosystems, ensuring seamless interoperability with enterprise platforms and security stacks
  • Deliver production-grade deployments of AI agent security solutions, ensuring compliance, governance alignment, and operational readiness
  • Engage with senior stakeholders (CISO, CIO, AI leadership) to translate technical architecture into business risk and governance frameworks
  • Develop observability and evaluation systems for agent behavior, including authorization metrics, anomaly detection, and audit integrity
  • Capture field insights and feed them back into internal product and engineering teams to influence roadmap and platform evolution
Requirements

This role requires a strong engineering background combined with deep expertise in identity systems, security architecture, and customer-facing delivery in complex enterprise environments:

  • 7+ years of experience in production software engineering with strong hands-on coding ability and operational ownership
  • Deep understanding of identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, and token exchange mechanisms
  • Experience with fine-grained authorization models (ABAC, ReBAC) and policy engines (e.g., OPA, Cedar, OpenFGA or equivalent)
  • Strong familiarity with AI agent ecosystems, including LLM-based systems, agent frameworks, and production AI integrations
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as OWASP for AI systems, NIST AI RMF, SOC 2, HIPAA, or FedRAMP
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers, including executive-level technical communication and architecture discussions
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous, zero-to-one environments with high ownership and urgency
  • Willingness to travel (~35%) and work closely on-site with customers when required
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $200,000 – $275,000 USD depending on location and experience
  • Equity opportunities and performance-based bonus structure
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage
  • Retirement savings plans and flexible spending accounts
  • Paid time off, parental leave, and flexible work arrangements
  • Exposure to cutting-edge AI and identity security initiatives at enterprise scale
  • High-impact, customer-facing role with significant ownership and autonomy
  • Opportunity to shape emerging standards for AI agent security and governance.
