Registered Nurse Infusion Center Per-diem in Lawrence, Massachusetts at Merrimack Health

At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $37.90 to $79.85 hourly, excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.

Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

As the Registered Nurse of Infusion Services, you will be asked to provide expert, compassionate patient care and coordinate infusion activities. Provides direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and clinical standards. The Infusion Nurse will also promote a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families, and all members of the care delivery healthcare team. Providing consultation and training for patient and family education is a major function.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for following all Hospital Policies and Procedures.
• In collaboration with the patient’s physician, the infusion nurse utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of care appropriate to the needs of the patient.
• The process includes assessment, problem identification, intervention, and evaluation to develop a plan of care.
• Administer chemotherapy IV fluids via peripherally inserted central catheters.
• Identifies, assesses and diagnoses problems through patient assessment and interactions; and evaluates actual or potential patient health problems.
• Develops and participates in educating patients, their families, or significant others about post-discharge care programs.
• Initiates patient care meetings with the health care team to revise the plan of care as the patient’s condition warrants.
• Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
• Provides guidance and direction to members of the health care team to ensure quality patient care.
• Keeps current on advances in nursing care by participating in educational programs.
• Orients and educates new staff in nursing techniques and departmental procedures.
• Provides and oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocol and physicians’ orders.
• Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution; and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
• Documents patient care in the health care record according to standards.
• Directs and delegates care about other team members.
• Troubleshooting IV lines, central venous catheters, and infusion devices.
• Changing the dressings of, removal of, and assisting in the insertion of central venous lines.
• Providing safe, effective, appropriate, and comprehensive infusion services to oncology patients.
• Provides education and follow-up care after patients have been released from chemotherapy.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required:

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing
• At lease one year of oncology experience
• Current Massachusetts License
• Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion (CRNI) preferred
• Experience with the placement of and maintenance of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and Midlines required
• ASN with enrollment in a BSN/MSN program or equivalent service line experience may be considered with CNO approval.
