Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Program Administration:
- Provide visionary leadership for the academic, clinical, and operational functions of the PA program.
- Develop and manage program budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocations in coordination with school leadership.
- Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program faculty and staff.
- Oversee faculty development, teaching assignments, and workload distribution.
- Develop, review, oversee, and revise if needed the program’s mission, goals, and competencies.
Accreditation and Compliance:
- Ensure program compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards and policies and lead accreditation preparation, reporting, and site visit processes.
- Maintain program policies, procedures, and documentation to support accreditation and institutional review.
- Lead the program’s self-study process including program review of analysis and implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Curriculum and Assessment:
- Oversee the development, design, delivery, coordination and evaluation of curriculum to ensure alignment with national competencies and best practices in PA education.
- Collaborate with academic and clinical faculty to integrate classroom and clinical learning.
- Ensure the effective assessment of student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
Student Affairs and Support:
- Participate in student recruitment, admissions, acceptance, orientation, progression, and graduation activities.
- Monitor student performance and support remediation, advising, and student success initiatives.
- Provide student academic, professional, and personal advisement.
- Foster a student-centered learning environment that supports academic excellence and professional growth.
- Support clinical site monitoring.
Institutional and External Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the PA program and internal department, clinical affiliates, the ARC-PA, and professional organizations (e.g., AAPA, PAEA).
- Support clinical site development and engage in clinical site monitoring.
- Represent the program at institutional, regional, and national meetings.
- Engage in interprofessional education and community partnerships to expand learning opportunities.
Teaching and Scholarship:
- Contribute to the program’s teaching needs based on area of expertise.
- Evaluate student progression.
- Participate in professional development.
- Promote Faculty and student engagement in scholarship and evidence-based practice
Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 annually
Education:
- Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program.
- Master’s degree required; Doctoral degree preferred.
Certification and Licensure:
- Current NCCPA certification required.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a PA in Massachusetts.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time higher education experience in PA education (teaching curriculum development, administration).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.
- Prior experience in academic program management or leadership (e.g., academic coordinator, director of clinical/academic education) strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated leadership, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of ARC-PA standards and the accreditation process.
- Exceptional proactive problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively respond to personnel issues.
- Ability to mentor and support diverse faculty, staff, and student populations.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and interprofessional education.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience with budgeting, personnel management, and institutional governance.
- Scholarly productivity and engagement with professional organizations (e.g., PAEA, AAPA, local state organization).
- A passion for innovation in health professions education and student-centered learning.
