This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payments professional to lead card scheme compliance initiatives within a dynamic and fast-growing fintech environment. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of Visa and Mastercard scheme requirements, ensuring timely implementation and ongoing compliance across the organization. Acting as a key bridge between product, technology, compliance, legal, and risk teams, you will transform complex regulatory and technical requirements into actionable business plans. The position offers significant ownership, strategic influence, and the chance to shape governance frameworks that support sustainable growth. You will also play a critical role in identifying opportunities arising from evolving scheme mandates while helping the organization maintain operational excellence and regulatory alignment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments and enjoys driving impactful change.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end management of Visa and Mastercard scheme notifications, releases, and compliance obligations, ensuring all requirements are assessed, prioritized, and delivered within required timelines.
  • Monitor and interpret scheme publications, translating complex technical and regulatory updates into clear business requirements for internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a robust scheme compliance framework, including governance processes, controls, reporting structures, and operational best practices.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation efforts across Product, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Operations teams, ensuring accountability and timely execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for card scheme-related compliance matters, maintaining effective communication and strong working relationships with scheme representatives.
  • Present compliance risks, decisions, and scheme-driven initiatives through governance forums and leadership discussions to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify strategic opportunities created by scheme changes and collaborate with product teams to maximize business and customer value.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, implementation tracking, risk assessments, and compliance reporting for senior stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of automation, AI, and enhanced tooling to optimize compliance monitoring and management processes.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in payments, card schemes, compliance, regulatory operations, fintech, card issuing, acquiring, processing, or regulated financial services environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Visa and Mastercard rules, release cycles, mandates, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex cross-functional projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical, regulatory, or scheme-driven requirements and convert them into practical implementation plans.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Proactive and ownership-driven mindset, with experience operating in rapidly evolving or scaling organizations.
  • Ability to balance regulatory compliance with business objectives and product innovation.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary package with regular compensation reviews.
  • Employee stock option program, enabling participation in the company's long-term growth and success.
  • Flexible paid time off policy, including up to 5 weeks of annual vacation and paid family leave (subject to local regulations).
  • Flexible remote and hybrid working options, including the possibility to work remotely from different locations for a limited period.
  • High levels of autonomy and ownership, empowering employees to make meaningful contributions and decisions.
  • Opportunities for professional development and long-term career growth.
  • Collaborative and supportive team culture focused on innovation, learning, and shared success.
  • Team activity budget throughout the year, plus company-wide events that foster connection and engagement.
  • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee wellbeing and work-life balance.
