This role sits at the intersection of digital design, accessibility, and public service communications, supporting the creation of high-impact electronic forms and publications for large-scale government programs. You will design, build, and maintain interactive, accessible PDF forms and digital publishing solutions that ensure citizens and stakeholders can easily access essential services. Acting as both a creative designer and technical specialist, you will lead projects from concept through delivery while coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and cross-agency partners. The position requires strong expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud tools and a deep understanding of accessibility standards such as ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.2. You will also contribute to training efforts, helping staff adopt consistent branding and publishing standards. This is a collaborative, deadline-driven environment where your work directly supports public-facing services and statewide communication initiatives. - Plan, design, and lead production of complex digital publishing projects, including interactive forms, PDFs, and outreach materials.
- Serve as project lead, coordinating with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of publications and eForms.
- Design and develop accessible, interactive PDF forms aligned with ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.2 standards.
- Troubleshoot technical and production issues related to digital publishing workflows and form functionality.
- Produce visual design solutions including layout, typography, color systems, and branding consistency across materials.
- Coordinate printing and distribution of major publications and departmental forms when required.
- Provide guidance and technical consultation to other designers and program staff on publishing standards and design direction.
- Conduct training sessions on design tools, accessibility standards, and publishing workflows using Adobe and Microsoft tools.
- Maintain adherence to agency branding, accessibility requirements, and established production processes.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines and quality expectations.
- 6+ years of experience in graphic arts production, digital publishing, or related design fields.
- At least 2 years of experience providing technical consultation and managing design projects through completion.
- Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud tools, including Adobe InDesign and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Minimum 4 years of experience designing interactive, accessible PDF forms compliant with ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.2 standards.
- Experience working with Microsoft 365 tools and digital publishing workflows.
- Familiarity with accessibility tools and platforms such as CommonLook PDF, Adobe Workfront, and AEM Forms.
- Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, hierarchy, and branding application.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams.
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant digital publishing and interactive form design work.
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Graphic Arts or Fine Arts (or equivalent experience substitution acceptable).
