Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Connectivity Engineer in United States.
This role sits at the core of large-scale data center infrastructure deployment, ensuring the physical backbone that powers advanced computing environments is designed, installed, and validated to the highest standards. You will act as a subject matter expert in fiber optics and structured cabling, overseeing end-to-end installation activities across mission-critical environments. Working closely with contractors, engineering teams, and facility operations, you will ensure deployments are executed accurately, safely, and on schedule. The position combines hands-on technical validation with project coordination and vendor management responsibilities. You will play a key role in quality assurance, ensuring all systems meet strict design and performance requirements. This is a high-impact, field-oriented role that requires strong technical depth, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in fast-moving deployment cycles.
- Serve as the on-site technical lead for low-voltage contractors and internal engineering teams, ensuring smooth coordination of installation activities and deployment schedules.
- Oversee and manage structured cabling, fiber optic installation, and data center hardware deployment, ensuring alignment with design documentation and project milestones.
- Perform rigorous QA/QC inspections across all infrastructure layers, including racks, servers, cabling routes, labeling, and grounding standards.
- Conduct and validate fiber optic testing procedures such as OTDR, OLTS, and power meter evaluations, as well as copper cable certification and verification.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety requirements, and structured cabling best practices, including industry-recognized frameworks.
- Produce detailed documentation, including test reports, as-built records, and root cause analyses for deployment issues.
- Coordinate with vendors, manage SLAs, and support handoff activities to operations teams upon project completion.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center infrastructure, telecom, or mission-critical environments.
- Strong expertise in fiber optic systems, structured cabling, and testing methodologies (OTDR, VFL, optical power meters, and related tools).
- Proven experience in server, storage, and networking hardware installation, including racking, stacking, and cable management.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as AutoCAD drawings, Visio diagrams, and engineering schematics.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams in fast-paced deployment environments.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-stage infrastructure projects.
- Willingness to travel frequently (approximately 40%) for on-site deployment and infrastructure turn-up activities.
- Bonus: industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD, Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent credentials.
Benefits:
- Competitive hourly rate ranging from $72 to $120 depending on experience, skills, and location.
- Potential for equity-based compensation depending on engagement terms.
- Remote-first arrangement with significant on-site flexibility based on deployment needs.
- Opportunity to work on large-scale, cutting-edge infrastructure projects in the AI and data center space.
- Exposure to hyperscale environments and advanced engineering practices.
- Work alongside highly specialized infrastructure and engineering teams.
- Equal opportunity employment with a strong commitment to fairness and inclusion.
