Job Description

The Opportunity

At Potomac, we’re not for everyone—and that’s by design. We attract people who think critically, communicate clearly, and execute with urgency. People who care deeply about their work and don’t need handholding to make things happen.

We’re a boutique tactical asset manager with a differentiated product that serves the independent broker-dealer and RIA channel

Headquartered in Bethesda, MD, we combine institutional-grade investment expertise with a quantitative process that is Built to Conquer Risk®.

As the Director of Advisor solutions, you will turn Potomac’s platform capabilities into funded advisor relationships.

SEAT PURPOSE

Lead how advisors understand, adopt, and fund Potomac’s Union and Guardrails platform. You’ll run discovery, demos, training, solution design, due diligence, and the handoff from evaluation to onboarding and launch.

WHY THIS SEAT MATTERS

Advisors need to quickly see how Potomac can solve real business, portfolio, and client-service challenges. This role turns a complex platform into clear recommendations, confident adoption, and funded advisor relationships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Be the platform expert — lead advisor discovery, Union demos, Guardrails Analytics presentations, due diligence, and solution design.

Train advisors and Sales — build and deliver practical training, demos, talk tracks, FAQs, and enablement materials for Union and Guardrails.

Own the pipeline signal — keep CRM activity, next steps, expected AUM, blockers, owner, stage, and implementation status accurate and current.

Launch committed advisors — partner with Operations so expectations, training needs, service workflows, and launch blockers are visible and resolved.

Turn field feedback into improvements — capture advisor questions, objections, workflow gaps, and training needs, then recommend improvements to Sales, Operations, leadership, and product stakeholders.

WHO THRIVES HERE

GETS IT

You understand advisor operating models across platform, custody, portfolio construction, reporting, planning, client portal, service model, and client experience. You can spot the workflow that needs to change and explain it clearly.

WANTS IT

You like consultative, education-led selling—not transactional product pitching. You’re motivated by building the sales motion, owning advisor/AUM outcomes, and creating scalable playbooks.

CAPACITY

You bring deep TAMP/RIA knowledge, strong advisor-workflow fluency, and the ability to run technical discovery, demos, group training, and internal enablement. Series 65/66 required.

FIRST 90 DAYS

  • Become certified as the Union and Guardrails SME and independently run live advisor discovery and demo sessions.
  • Deliver Guardrails Analytics training for an advisor group and Potomac Sales, with reusable enablement materials.
  • Launch a weekly Core Union pipeline cadence in CRM covering activity, owner, stage, next action, expected AUM, implementation status, and blockers.
  • Send leadership the first advisor-feedback memo with workflow gaps, training needs, enablement ideas, and platform recommendations.

CORE VALUES FIT

  • Intellectually Curious — continuously masters an evolving platform to stay ahead of prospect questions.
  • Transparency — states fee schedule, custody limits, and “coming soon” status exactly as written; never oversells (no guaranteed-performance promises, no calling SDBA “free,” no representing direct indexing as live).
  • Keep It Simple — condenses a genuinely complex platform into the “Union is what simple looks like” narrative for a business owner, not a technologist.
  • Responsiveness — fast, disciplined follow-through on every jointly-routed lead; weekly cadence, not ad hoc.
  • Get Shit Done — this is a Foundation-phase hire: the playbook doesn't exist yet and this seat builds it.
  • Attention to Detail — precise on compliance-sensitive language given Potomac's SEC-registered RIA status.

Potomac is not your typical asset manager. We cut through the industry BS with brutal transparency and an obsession with execution. If you’re looking for a slow pace and low volume, this isn’t for you.

If you want to drive, build, and scale, this is your shot.

Compensation: $145,000–$165,000 + Discretionary bonus

  • 401(k) & other retirement benefits
