Whom We Seek
Based in Charlotte, NC, the Director for Operations oversees all programmatic operations for Hispanic Federation’s North Carolina offices in Charlotte and Mount Olive. The Director will work under the direct supervision of the North Carolina State Director and will ensure smooth execution of programs and program administration.
As a key member of the NC State Team, the Director will oversee statewide operations for both office spaces and support programmatic needs as they arise. The Director will serve an integral function of ensuring that programs are able to run seamlessly, allowing programmatic teams to focus on the program content while the director focuses on the logistics. The director will also supervise Finance and Administration Coordinator along with working closely with members of the HF Headquarters team.
The ideal candidate is a strong self-starter with high attention to detail, has a commitment and passion to working with underserved and under-represented communities, and has experience managing budgets with multiple funding sources. The position is hybrid and requires on-site presence at least 50% of the time, averaging 10 on-site days per month.
Onsite dates include days working on events in third-party locations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead operational and logistical planning for regional events, donor summits, program workshops, and community events, ensure collaboration with members of HF’s Headquarters team as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics for our annual convening of Latino organizations, as well as in-person and virtual capacity-building workshops held throughout the year.
  • Ensure full grant compliance across state office operations and among all subgrantees for public and private funding.
  • Manage grantee relationships and support the end-to-end grantmaking process. Track and oversee grant disbursement to HF partners on the ground; working closely with both Finance and Grantmaking Teams, the Director will be critical in fund disbursement and reporting.
  • Supervise the work of the Finance and Administration Coordinator and provide guidance and professional development opportunities with support from the NC State Director.
  • Support staff growth and development in partnership with the State Director and members of HF Headquarters in New York.
  • Manage and track the State Office’s operating budget, ensuring reports to HF’s finance team are completed accurately and fully.
  • Shepherd all vendor, venue, and consultant contracts and agreements to ensure proper vetting by counsel and compliance to ensure they are aligned with HF’s standards.
  • Manage office lease agreements, facilities maintenance, vendor relationships, space planning, and office supplies.
  • Other tasks as assigned and requested.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in public administration, nonprofit management, finance, organizational leadership, or other relevant courses of study is strongly preferred.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in nonprofit or programmatic administration, experience with finance and grant administration is an asset.
  • Capacity to work independently and keep organized in a fast-paced environment, manage several projects simultaneously, and adjust strategy to frequently changing demands.
  • Able to share leadership roles, build consensus and, as necessary, take initiative and make decisions.
  • Maturity, professionalism, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to exercise diplomacy are critical.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse and remote staff and partners including New York and Washington DC staff, various issue coalitions, government officials across the political spectrum, and a range of partners regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing the Hispanic Federation’s values, mission, and goals.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 and is commensurate with experience.
Compensation includes fully paid medical, dental, vision insurance which includes coverage for partners or dependents. Insurance coverage is effective as of the first day of employment. Additional benefits include access to flexible spending for medical and transportation, and the opportunity to open a 403(B)-retirement plan with a match of up to 6% after 6 months of service.
HF offers fifteen (15) days of vacation time accrued monthly throughout the course of the year and twelve (12) Sick and Personal days.
