Title: Executive Director of Admissions - Alfred State College

Alfred State College seeks a dynamic, relationship-centered, and forward-thinking Executive Director of Admissions to provide strategic leadership for undergraduate admissions and recruitment.

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Executive Director will lead a talented admissions team responsible for attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students who will thrive at Alfred State. The successful candidate will build upon recent enrollment momentum while helping the College evolve its recruitment strategy for a changing higher education marketplace.

The Executive Director will preserve and strengthen Alfred State's longstanding relationships with high school counselors and other educational partners while expanding the College's reach in priority markets. Particular attention will be given to sustaining strong traditional undergraduate recruitment in New York State while increasing enrollment among out-of-state students, transfer students, online learners, and adult and professional learners.

The ideal candidate will be a relationship-driven, data-informed leader who combines strategic thinking with strong operational execution, embraces technology and innovation, develops people, and works collaboratively across the institution to achieve enrollment goals.

Why This Is a Distinctive Leadership Opportunity

  • Strong Institutional and Enrollment Momentum - Alfred State enters Fall 2026 with its largest overall enrollment in more than 40 years and several years of positive recruitment performance. The College is also in a strong financial position and is completing a comprehensive capital campaign that is on pace to significantly exceed its ambitious $40 million goal.
  • A College Preparing for Its Next Strategic Chapter - Alfred State is completing a successful five-year strategic plan in which its established goals have been achieved. Development of the next institutional strategic plan is underway, creating an opportunity for the Executive Director to help shape how enrollment strategy supports the College's next priorities.
  • An Established Team and Integrated Enrollment Division - The Executive Director will lead a fully staffed admissions organization that includes experienced recruitment and enrollment operations professionals. Admissions operates within an integrated Enrollment Management division with close collaboration among Student Records and Financial Services, Marketing and Communications, and adult and career education enrollment.
  • Modern Recruitment Technology and Innovation - Alfred State has invested significantly in recruitment technology and operates within an optimized Slate CRM environment that supports communication automation, segmentation, application management, reporting, and enrollment strategy. The College has also incorporated artificial intelligence and automation, including AI-assisted transcript reading and processing and front-desk engagement tools.
  • Accessible Data and Strong Executive Partnership - Admissions leadership has access to enrollment funnel data, historical trends, program-level reporting, recruitment analytics, and Institutional Research dashboards. The Executive Director will serve as a strategic partner to the Vice President for Enrollment Management in enrollment planning, market analysis, recruitment investment, financial aid strategy, and long-range enrollment planning.
  • An Opportunity to Build on Success - With traditional undergraduate recruitment performing well, the next Executive Director will have the opportunity to sharpen Alfred State's approach to out-of-state recruitment, transfer enrollment, online programs, adult learners, workforce development, territory optimization, and emerging markets while continuing to strengthen relationships with high school counselors and educational partners throughout New York State and beyond.
