J2 is a multidisciplinary engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying firm serving Northern Virginia. J2 is located in Virginia, with opportunities in Herndon, Leesburg, Arlington, and Dumfries.
Responsibilities:
Working alongside project engineers, you’ll support land development projects from initial concept through construction administration. Our work spans residential communities, mixed-use developments, commercial projects, and educational facilities, giving you exposure to a range of project types and design challenges.
You will:
- Help develop engineering solutions using local, state, and federal design standards and regulations.
- Support the preparation of rezoning and entitlement applications, preliminary plans, and site and subdivision plans.
- Assist with open and closed storm drainage systems, including stormwater management.
- Contribute to water and sanitary sewer system design.
- Help ensure plans comply with zoning ordinances, proffers, and applicable facility standards.
- Assist with erosion and sediment control plans and measures in accordance with state criteria.
- Create technical drawings and documents in AutoCAD using Carlson Design software.

Requirements:- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent curriculum, at an ABET-accredited university.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning and collaborating with a team.
