This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Benefits Coordinator based in Canada.
This is a temporary, full-time opportunity with an anticipated twelve-month term, focused on supporting benefits and leave administration across the U.S. and Canada.
You will help manage a broad portfolio of employee benefits, retirement programs, and leave-of-absence activities.
The role combines hands-on administration, employee support, HRIS coordination, compliance, and vendor collaboration.
You will serve as an important resource for employees and HR teams, helping resolve questions and ensuring accurate benefits and leave information.
The position also offers opportunities to contribute to process improvements, benefits communications, and the implementation of new programs.
Strong organization, attention to detail, and customer service skills will be essential when managing sensitive employee information and time-critical processes.
This is a collaborative remote role suited to someone who takes ownership, adapts quickly, and enjoys improving HR operations.
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, COBRA, short- and long-term disability, employee assistance programs, and 401(k) plans.
- Coordinate U.S. and Canada leave-of-absence activities, including disability, FMLA, workers' compensation, personal leaves, and applicable state or provincial leave requirements.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and coordinate status changes, leave payroll activities, benefit premium collection, and employee communications throughout leave periods.
- Provide day-to-day benefits support to HR teams and assist with escalated employee questions and concerns across the U.S. and Canada.
- Enroll new participants in the Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP), process data updates, and perform audits to ensure information accuracy.
- Support the annual U.S. benefits open enrollment process and related employee communications.
- Monitor weekly benefits import and update reports, identify discrepancies, and partner with HRIS teams to resolve errors and improve processes.
- Review 401(k) enrollments, submit required data changes, conduct monthly contribution audits, and resolve discrepancies with payroll.
- Process Canada benefits continuation forms for terminated employees when required.
- Partner with benefits vendors and HR teams to improve communication and employee awareness of wellness and benefits programs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new benefits programs, policies, procedures, and operational processes.
- Maintain and continuously improve benefits-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal HR resources.
- Support required reporting and notification activities, including workers' compensation reporting, annual ACA reporting, Medicare Part D, and other applicable requirements.
- Evaluate existing workflows and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, employee experience, and compliance.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling employee benefits, leave, payroll, and personal information.
- Minimum of a two-year degree or equivalent professional experience.
- At least two years of experience in benefits administration, leave administration, or a related HR function.
- Experience supporting benefits and leave programs in the United States and/or Canada.
- Strong understanding of benefits administration processes, employee leave management, and related compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Workday HRIS is considered an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain benefits and leave information clearly and professionally.
- Strong customer service orientation and the ability to respond effectively to employee questions and concerns.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail when managing multiple processes, deadlines, and employee records.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize competing responsibilities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to respond effectively to changing work situations and priorities.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and initiative when managing assigned projects and operational responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with HR teams, HRIS specialists, payroll teams, employees, and external benefits vendors.

- CAD $29.86–$36.50 per hour estimated base salary range for roles performed in Ontario and British Columbia.
- Full-time temporary position with an anticipated 12-month term.
