Position Overview:
The Family Services Staff (Bilingual) member is responsible for providing direct support and supervision to residents within a federally contracted ICE Short-Term Residential Facility.
This position works closely with children, families, and adult residents to ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Family Services Staff assist with resident supervision, family engagement, daily activities, basic care services, documentation, data entry, and case management support functions. Services are provided in accordance with federal contract requirements, facility policies, trauma-informed care principles, and established safety standards.
The population served may include family units with minor children, pregnant women, adult residents, and other individuals representing diverse backgrounds.
Family Services Staff play a critical role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents by providing daily supervision, facilitating activities, supporting resident needs, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with facility procedures. This role requires professionalism, sound judgment, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24-hour residential environment.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Resident Supervision & Family Support
Provide direct supervision and monitoring of residents throughout the facility.Help maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment for children and families.Assist with resident orientation and explain facility rules, expectations, and available services.Facilitate age-appropriate recreational, educational, and family-centered activities.Support residents in accessing meals, hygiene supplies, clothing, and other basic necessities.Monitor resident movement and participation in scheduled activities.Ensure family units remain together when appropriate and in accordance with facility requirements.Promote dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions with residents.Respond appropriately to resident questions, concerns, and requests for assistance.Resident Engagement & Daily Activities
Encourage resident participation in facility programs and activities.Support positive interactions among residents while maintaining a safe environment.Observe and report resident concerns, behavioral issues, or service needs to supervisory staff.Provide general support to residents throughout their stay within the facility.Documentation, Data Entry & Case Management Support
Maintain accurate supervision logs, activity records, and resident documentation.Enter and update resident information within facility databases and case management systems.Assist with resident intake, transfer, discharge, and tracking processes.Support case management personnel by collecting, organizing, and maintaining required documentation.Review records for completeness and accuracy and report discrepancies to supervisors.Generate reports and provide administrative support related to resident services and facility operations.Maintain confidentiality of resident information at all times.Incident Response & Safety
Monitor for safety concerns and report incidents, emergencies, or unusual activity immediately.Utilize trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation techniques when responding to resident concerns.Assist with emergency response procedures and facility drills.Complete incident reports and related documentation accurately and timely.Escalate medical, behavioral, security, or operational concerns to supervisory staff as appropriate.Interdisciplinary Coordination
Work collaboratively with Family Services Supervisors, medical personnel, behavioral health staff, operations teams, and facility leadership.Communicate resident concerns and service needs to appropriate personnel.Support continuity of services during admissions, transfers, and discharges.Assist in coordinating services for families and children during their stay within the facility.Safety, Ethics & Professional Conduct
Adhere to all confidentiality, reporting, and resident protection requirements.Maintain professional boundaries and ethical conduct at all times.Comply with all mandatory reporting obligations.Follow facility policies regarding resident interactions, favoritism, conflicts of interest, and professional conduct.Promote a culture of safety, accountability, respect, and professionalism.Required Qualifications & Core Competencies:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Education, or a related field preferred.Minimum one (1) year of experience working with children, families, vulnerable populations, residential programs, social services, education, customer service, or a related field.Experience working with culturally diverse populations preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain professionalism under pressure.Strong organizational and documentation skills.Ability to follow policies, procedures, and supervisory direction.Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure effective communication with staff, visitors, government officials, and other contractor personnel.Must be bilingual (Spanish preferred, but candidates fluent in other commonly encountered languages will be considered).Experience with data entry, electronic records management, or case management systems preferred.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn resident tracking and case management systems.Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately.Desired Skills:
Experience working with diverse populations.Training or experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, behavioral support, or de-escalation techniques.Experience in residential facilities, shelters, family services programs, detention settings, or other 24-hour operations.Experience working on government contracts or within federally regulated environmentsConditions of Employment:

If applicable, Child Abuse/ Neglect Report (CAN) or child protective services check with no adverse findings.Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods.Ability to respond quickly to operational incidents and emergencies.Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds.Ability to sit for extended periods while completing documentation and reports.Visual acuity sufficient to monitor facility operations and review documentation.Auditory ability sufficient to communicate effectively and respond to operational concerns.Work Environment:
