Job Description

Manager, Quality Engineering (Development)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Quality Engineering (Development) based in the United States.

This role is a high-impact leadership opportunity at the intersection of software engineering, quality assurance, and platform scalability within a modern digital banking environment. As a Manager, Quality Engineering (Development), you will lead a team responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of end-to-end digital banking solutions. You will operate as a player-coach, combining strategic leadership with hands-on technical contribution to strengthen test automation frameworks, CI/CD reliability, and overall engineering quality. The role requires close collaboration with development, DevOps, SRE, and product teams to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle. You will also shape the QE roadmap, influence engineering standards, and drive a shift-left quality mindset across the organization. This position is ideal for a technically strong leader who thrives in fast-paced Agile environments and is passionate about building high-performing engineering teams and scalable quality systems.

Accountabilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a Quality Engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and execute the QE roadmap, including automation strategy, tooling standards, and test coverage across the platform.
  • Design and evolve end-to-end (E2E) and API test automation frameworks to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Partner with development teams to integrate quality practices into Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Own the stability and reliability of E2E and UAT testing within CI/CD pipelines, reducing flakiness and improving test signal quality.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to enhance CI/CD integration, environment stability, authentication handling, and release readiness.
  • Establish and track quality metrics and reporting dashboards to proactively identify trends, risks, and regression issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Delivery leadership to define and enforce release quality standards.
  • Manage team capacity, hiring, onboarding, and performance management while supporting professional growth and technical development.
  • Champion shift-left quality practices by ensuring testability is embedded in requirements and acceptance criteria early in the SDLC.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience (MS or MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including at least 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong hands-on background in software engineering and test automation frameworks for web applications.
  • Proven experience building and scaling QE teams in a player-coach leadership model.
  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and integration of automated testing into build systems.
  • Strong expertise in end-to-end testing strategies and modern automation frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of modern web technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript and Angular or similar frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with iterative sprint delivery cycles.
  • Demonstrated ability to define testing strategies, quality metrics, and release readiness standards.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and align cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing tools to improve efficiency and test coverage is highly desirable.
  • Experience in fintech, banking technology, or regulated environments is a plus.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $150,000–$180,000 USD annually.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Flexible PTO policy plus 12 paid holidays.
  • Paid sick leave, parental leave, and family leave programs.
  • Lifestyle spending account and cell phone stipend.
  • Tuition reimbursement and ongoing learning and development support.
  • Flexible, cloud-native, innovation-driven work environment.
  • Opportunity to shape quality engineering strategy at scale in a modern digital banking platform.
  • Minimal travel requirements with occasional team gatherings.
