Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 annually

Location: Points of Light is a remote-first organization. Any U.S. location in the Eastern or Central time zone in a market with a major airport. Washington, DC preferred.
Position Summary:
This role is both a hands-on fundraiser and team leader, directly driving new business, cultivating and deepening strategic corporate relationships, and securing significant funding, while also leading a team responsible for advancing the same priorities across their portfolios. The Senior Director will support and guide team members in identifying opportunities, building pipelines, developing partner strategies, and moving prospects and renewals from cultivation to close. This position helps fuel the organization’s operational and programmatic growth by advancing both new business and renewal opportunities that support Points of Light’s mission and long-term sustainability.
As a leader of people, this position will play an influential role in growing Points of Light’s inclusive, positive, remote-first culture. The Senior Director will provide leadership, direction, feedback and coaching for direct reports to achieve institutional fundraising goals and elevate Points of Light’s programs, including ensuring proper moves management and partner and prospect stewardship with an eye to revenue goals and timelines. The position will be responsible for ensuring the development of their staff and growing the next generation of development leaders. The position will report to the Senior Vice President, Development.
Position Functions and Responsibilities Include:
Fundraising and Partnership Management:
- Portfolio Management: Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of partners. Secure six- and seven-figure contributions and develop customized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for each in a portfolio of $2-4 million annually, inclusive of both new business and renewals across philanthropic giving, fee-for-service revenue, and event sponsorships.
- Revenue Reporting: Regularly track and update moves management activities and status of revenue generated to goal, both within Salesforce and as supportive narrative to leadership.
- Proposal Preparation and Negotiation: Participate in prospect research, outreach, and proposal submission. Develop and collaborate on proposals, presentations, and statements of work to solicit financial support.
- Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with corporate and corporate foundation representatives, including travel, visits, and annual strategic planning sessions.
- Cultivation: Develop engagement and growth plans for key strategic partners to establish areas of interests and drive follow-up throughout the cultivation cycle.
- Industry Engagement: Represent Points of Light at both internal and external events, staying informed about trends and networking opportunities.
- Stay Informed: Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of corporate giving interests, staff, industry trends, and partner and prospect news and priorities.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and support Corporate Partnerships team members, helping them manage portfolios, strengthen partner strategies, advance opportunities, and meet individual and topline revenue goals.
- Revenue Accountability: Own and drive progress toward assigned individual and team revenue targets, including pipeline development, forecasting, moves management discipline, proposal strategy, renewal planning, and timely escalation of risks or barriers.
- Talent Development and Standards: Support the professional growth of assigned team members by understanding their development goals, identifying opportunities for growth aligned with Points of Light’s mission and needs, and ensuring their work reflects organizational standards, processes, and fundraising best practices.
- Culture: Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence.
- Proposal and Budget Review: Review and strengthen team proposals, budgets, and related partner materials to ensure they are compelling, accurate, financially sound, and clearly aligned with Points of Light’s priorities and the partner’s goals.
- Comprehensive Strategy: Collaborate closely with the Senior Vice President, Strategic Growth & Partnerships on corporate engagement and fundraising strategies. Articulate the organization’s corporate engagement strategy both internally and externally.
- Funding Opportunities: Identify compelling funding opportunities to attract and retain corporate partners. Support or lead the fundraising strategy and pipeline development for program/project areas as assigned.
- New Business Pipeline Development: Support the New Business Pod to execute a business development pipeline focusing on corporations and corporate foundations aligned with Points of Light’s mission.
- Leadership Engagement: Work closely with the SVP to engage executive leadership, program leads, Affiliates, and Board members to initiate conversations with potential philanthropic partners at the executive level.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Cross-Functional Teams: Lead and support cross-functional teams, partnering with other departments (such as Programs, Network, MarComm, and Finance) to build and deliver project plans, donor reports, and milestones unique to each donor account.
- Customized Concepts: Work cross-functionally to develop innovative, customized concepts for prospective partners. Align a company’s business objectives with Points of Light’s priorities.
- Cross-Departmental Process Improvement: Partner with SVP and internal teams to build, improve, and refine processes, workflows, tools, and communication practices that increase efficiency, reduce bottlenecks and pain points, support innovation, and strengthen the partner experience.
Departmental Coordination:
- Data Accuracy: Ensure accurate and timely tracking of opportunity, gift, and prospect activity in Salesforce to ensure appropriate cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and stewardship.
- Assigned Projects: Lead or support other projects as assigned by the SVP and CDO.
- Revenue Enablement Partnership: Work closely with the Revenue Enablement team to ensure pipeline data, donor records, prospect research, reporting, and fundraising systems are accurate, timely, and effectively supporting portfolio strategy, team accountability, and revenue growth.
Core Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A track record of successfully securing six and seven figure grants or commitments from national and global corporate funders as demonstrated through executed partnerships and grants, ranging from structuring partnerships and planning grants through activation of highly impactful programs.
- Deep commitment to and experience in staff development, coaching, and inclusive team leadership, with the ability to support individual and team success through clear goals, disciplined moves management, portfolio strategy, accountability, and a shared focus on meeting revenue targets. Prioritize belonging in team culture, management practices, and decision-making.
- Previous experience in positions leading collegial and highly collaborative national and global projects and fundraising opportunities, including programmatic experience and a demonstrated ability to co-create and articulate global programs and impact.
- Exceptional strategic relationship management skills with the proven ability to develop and grow high-yield relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to infuse creativity, innovation and insight into prospect cultivation and proposal development.
- Superior organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and relationship savvy.
- Astute at research and prospecting skills with an ability to convert research into materials and proposals.
- A high degree of personal initiative with the desire and ability to meet aggressive revenue goals.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 10-12 years of robust development experience with demonstrated success in securing philanthropic gifts, fee-for service contracts, and sponsorships.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Salesforce or equivalent fundraising/CRM software.
- Able and willing to travel up to 35%.
