Job Description

The Area Director of Marketing is responsible for leading and executing integrated marketing strategies across a portfolio of Makeready properties - The Adolphus, The Moran, and The Greenleigh, opening Winter 2026. This role partners closely with property leaders, Sales, Revenue Management, Food + Beverage, Brand, Digital, and agency partners to drive awareness, demand, revenue, and market positioning for each hotel within the assigned portfolio.

Serving as both a strategic advisor and hands-on marketing leader, the Area Director of Marketing translates Makeready's brand vision and each property's unique identity into actionable marketing plans that support commercial performance. This role is responsible for ensuring that property-level marketing efforts are thoughtful, differentiated, measurable, and aligned with broader business objectives.

Requested Tasks
  • Develop and execute annual and quarterly marketing strategies for assigned properties based on business priorities, revenue opportunities, market conditions, and brand positioning
  • Translate portfolio and property-level business objectives into actionable marketing plans that support rooms, food + beverage, meetings, events, leisure, local, and ancillary revenue streams
  • Serve as the primary marketing partner for Managing Directors, Directors of Sales + Marketing, Revenue leaders, and other property leadership teams
  • Maintain a deep understanding of each property's positioning, competitive landscape, target audiences, demand drivers, and commercial priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen awareness, market share, direct bookings, local engagement, and overall brand relevance.
  • Balance portfolio consistency with the distinct identity, voice, experience, and market needs of each Makeready property.
  • Support pre-opening, repositioning, renovation, conversion, and special project marketing initiatives as assigned.
  • Protect and elevate the brand positioning and visual identity of each property in partnership with Makeready Brand and Creative teams.
  • Ensure marketing communications consistently reflect property voice, storytelling, design standards, and guest experience.
  • Partner with internal and external creative resources to develop compelling content, photography, video, campaigns, collateral, and digital assets.
  • Develop annual and seasonal content priorities that support key need periods, packages, experiences, events, and property programming.
  • Provide strategic direction for hotel websites, social media, email marketing, paid media, public relations, and third-party marketing platforms.
  • Review and approve property marketing materials to ensure accuracy, quality, and brand alignment.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage local partnerships, cultural moments, neighborhood connections, and destination storytelling.
  • Partner with internal teams and external public relations agencies to develop property-specific media strategies and storytelling opportunities.Identify newsworthy moments, leadership stories, openings, programming, awards, partnerships, and experiences worthy of media outreach.
  • Support influencer, creator, and media stays in alignment with brand standards and commercial objectives.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with local businesses, cultural organizations, attractions, tourism partners, and community groups.
  • Evaluate sponsorships and partnership opportunities based on brand fit, audience relevance, and expected business impact.
  • Ensure external partnerships are thoughtful, measurable, and aligned with each property's positioning.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences and alignment with brand standards

Requested Capabilities
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within hospitality, lifestyle hotels, luxury hotels, restaurants, travel, or a related consumer-facing industry.
  • Previous multi-property, regional, area, or portfolio marketing experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and revenue.
  • Strong understanding of hospitality commercial strategy, including the relationship between Marketing, Sales, Revenue Management, and Operations.
  • Experience with digital marketing, paid media, CRM, social media, email marketing, website optimization, content strategy, and performance analytics.
  • Experience marketing food + beverage concepts, restaurants, bars, or lifestyle experiences strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multiple marketing budgets and evaluating return on investment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties, stakeholders, campaigns, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong creative judgment paired with analytical thinking and commercial discipline.
  • Ability to build credibility and influence across both corporate and property-level leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, digital analytics platforms, social media tools, CRM systems, and hospitality marketing technologies.
  • Ability to travel regularly among assigned properties and markets based on business needs.
