Warehouse Associate in Pelham, Alabama at Southeastern Food Merchandisers LP

We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our warehouse team. Warehouse Associates play an important role in keeping our operation running efficiently and may work in a variety of areas, including order selection, forklift operation, loading, sanitation, and general warehouse support.

This is a fast-paced, physically demanding position that requires associates to work safely, accurately, and as part of a team.

Depending on assignment, responsibilities may include:

• Select and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as assigned
• Load and unload trucks and trailers
• Stage, move, and organize products throughout the warehouse
• Stack and secure products for shipment
• Maintain clean and organized warehouse, dock, and work areas
• Perform sanitation duties, including sweeping, cleaning, removing debris, and maintaining food distribution areas
• Check products for accuracy, damage, and proper handling
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Work productively in a fast-paced environment while meeting accuracy and productivity expectations
• Assist in other warehouse areas as needed

Work Environment:

Warehouse Associates must be able and willing to work in multiple temperature-controlled environments, including:

• Dry warehouse areas
• Cooler/refrigerated areas
• Freezer areas

Employees may move between these environments throughout their shift and must be comfortable working in cold temperatures for extended periods.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires regular physical activity throughout the shift. Associates must be able to:

• Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move heavy products
• Repeatedly bend, stoop, squat, reach, and twist
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Perform repetitive lifting and material-handling tasks
• Safely handle products in a fast-paced warehouse environment
• Work in cooler, freezer, and dry warehouse conditions

• Dependable with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work safely and follow instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
• Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments
• Warehouse, order selection, loading, sanitation, or forklift experience is preferred but not required for all positions
• Forklift certification or previous powered industrial equipment experience is a plus
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
