Job Description
SUMMARY: The Risk Management, Compliance and HIPAA Coordinator is responsible for BRMC’s risk management activities which include, but may not be limited to, safety/loss control policy development, ensuring adequacy of insurance coverage and terms, managing claims against the hospital, interfacing with defense legal counsel, administering an enterprise risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, conducting risk management educational programs, complying with risk management standards from regulatory agencies with the objective of promoting patient safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the assets of BRMC. This position is also responsible for developing and enforcing the Compliance Program for the hospital. Coordinates with departments for day-to- day activities in meeting and/or following ethical and sound business practices which meet the intent of CMS rules and regulations, as well as other applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines. The Compliance Officer has full authority to access any and all documents that are relevant to compliance activities. Responsible for compliance training programs and communicating compliance changes. Researches and reviews legislative, regulatory, and/or accreditation requirements that affect operations and compares them to current policies/activities. Develops and enforces programs/policies to comply with new laws and regulations. Responsible for overseeing compliance with federal and state patient privacy laws, including responsibility for HIPAA policy, training, investigations, and breach reporting and management
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor Degree required.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years hospital or relevant experience required.
Certifications: Certifications in risk management and compliance preferred.
Other: Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to create effective training programs and presentations. Ability to interact with patients, visitors, and individuals at all levels in the organization.
