This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Analyst, Payroll Accounting based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to support payroll accounting and financial operations within a global, technology-enabled environment. You will work at the intersection of payroll processing, labor allocation, accounting, and enterprise systems, with a primary focus on PeopleSoft 9.2. The position combines hands-on payroll operations with data analysis, reporting, controls, documentation, and process improvement. You will help ensure payroll data and accounting entries are accurate, compliant, and processed efficiently across recurring pay cycles. The role also provides exposure to system changes, country transitions, data migration, and cross-functional initiatives. It is well suited to an analytical finance professional who is comfortable working with complex systems, tight deadlines, and stakeholders across business and technology teams.
- Process payroll for each pay period using PeopleSoft 9.2, ensuring payroll activities are completed accurately and within established timelines.
- Maintain payroll processing systems and records by gathering, calculating, validating, and entering relevant employee and payroll data.
- Calculate employee take-home pay based on time records, benefits, deductions, taxes, and other applicable payroll inputs.
- Prepare and maintain payroll accounting journals, including ledger entries for employee earnings and deductions across relevant PeopleSoft modules.
- Support the intersection between payroll processing and labor allocation, ensuring appropriate data flows and accounting treatment.
- Prepare Excel analyses, pivot tables, charts, payroll reports, and other management information required for daily and monthly operations.
- Generate payroll and financial reports for managers and stakeholders, highlighting relevant information and supporting review activities.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with established policies, procedures, controls, and applicable legal requirements.
- Develop and maintain relevant process documentation, including the Global Data Dictionary and other operational materials.
- Ensure appropriate process and system controls are established and maintained to protect the integrity and accuracy of master data.
- Perform and report on periodic audits and control checks to identify discrepancies and support corrective actions.
- Support business initiatives, system changes, data extraction, data conversion, data cleansing, and system configuration activities.
- Participate in user acceptance testing, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with business users and IT teams to identify and implement appropriate fixes.
- Coordinate with Cluster PMOs and service delivery teams to track and close action items and maintain progress across initiatives.
- Support the transition of new countries into the payroll process, including coordination, documentation, data readiness, and operational support.
- Develop training materials and independently conduct training sessions for relevant users and stakeholders when required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of professional experience, with specific experience working with PeopleSoft 9.2 for payroll.
- Proven experience in payroll accounting, payroll operations, General Ledger, or a closely related finance function.
- Hands-on operational experience managing payroll processes within PeopleSoft 9.2.
- Experience with payroll software or HRIS platforms, with PeopleSoft and Cognos experience considered valuable.
- Experience across multiple PeopleSoft finance modules is preferred, particularly Projects, Labor/Resource Allocation, Payroll Accounting, and Billing.
- Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of payroll accounting principles, financial data, and ledger entries.
- Strong understanding of how data flows between systems and how enterprise applications support finance and payroll processes.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify practical solutions.
- Experience troubleshooting issues during UAT and collaborating effectively with business users and IT teams to implement fixes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, stakeholders, service delivery teams, PMOs, and technology teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume operational environment.
- Ability to independently lead training sessions, develop training materials, and communicate processes clearly to different audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership, and commitment to data accuracy and process integrity.
- Experience in payroll accounting within a multinational or global organization is preferred.
- Fully remote working arrangement based in Gurugram, Haryana, India.
- Full-time position with a scheduled 40-hour working week.
