Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Corvus Consulting, LLC is in search of a Senior Information Operations Data Scientist to provide operational, analytical, and staff integration support to Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), G‑3/5/7, DAMO‑SOI. The position focuses on identifying capability gaps, informing senior‑leader decisions, supporting Army planning and resourcing processes, and applying AI/ML/NLP expertise where beneficial to Army Information Operations (IO) capabilities and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in DoD, Joint, and Army projects, studies, and working groups addressing the DAMO‑SOI portfolio. Provide operational, systems, and technical analysis to identify capability gaps, assess requirements against specific threats, and develop recommendations for senior leaders.
- Provide subject matter expertise on the application of AI, ML, and NLP to existing and emerging Army capabilities, enabling Army forces to consolidate, contextualize, and analyze information at scale and speed in support of operations and decision‑making.
- Track Army, Joint, Executive Communication and Control (ECC), and congressional actions assigned to DAMO‑SOI using the Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2) and the OSD Correspondence and Task Management System (CATMS).
- Prepare briefings, information and decision papers, policy documents, staffing packages, execution orders (EXORDs), memorandums, situation reports (SITREPs), and official multimedia correspondence supporting DAMO‑SOI.
- Support Army Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) activities by developing analytical products, refining requirements, and informing resourcing decisions affecting the DAMO‑SOI portfolio.
- Research congressional inquiries and requests from higher authorities and prepare draft responses addressing DAMO‑SOI equities.
- Provide policy and technical advice on structured and unstructured data, data management, and data analytics to improve Army capabilities and decision‑making.
- Coordinate meetings and conferences, including rooms, VTCs, contact lists, notifications, agendas, and read‑ahead packages. Prepare meeting minutes and executive summaries within required timelines.
- Contribute to monthly status reports, work plans, and quarterly technical reviews, identifying completed products, analytical findings, and support to government decisions.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to translate complex technical problems and analytical findings into clear written products, briefings, plans, and recommendations for DoD general officer and Senior Executive Service (GO/SES) decisions.
- Knowledge of HQDA processes and systems, with demonstrated ability to support military staffing and Army PPBE activities.
- Expertise in AI, ML, and NLP applications and their implications for Army information capabilities and decision‑making.
- Ability to assess the capabilities and limitations of AI/ML, explain how they can be used to manipulate outcomes, and recommend measures to reduce Army susceptibility to adversarial manipulation.
- Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and lead diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with supervised, semi‑supervised, and unsupervised learning algorithms, feature selection, and model optimization.
- Ability to identify and deploy innovative solutions that address Army IO stakeholder requirements.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Adobe tools.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage competing tasks, and meet short‑suspense deadlines.
- Ability to travel in support of customer and company requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with Service IO implementation and the execution of cyberspace operations, public affairs, or Military Information Support Operations (MISO).
- Knowledge of HQDA processes, military staffing, and Army PPBE activities.
- Experience with enterprise data platforms supporting data integration, structured/unstructured data analysis, visualization, and decision support.
- Technical experience with AI/ML, NLP, or data science applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Former Army officer (O‑5 level experience strongly preferred); demonstrated motivation, initiative, and ability to operate effectively in high‑visibility HQDA environments.
- Familiarity with Army Vantage or Palantir Foundry for data integration, visualization, and operational assessments.
- Experience supporting operations at HQDA or higher headquarters.
- Knowledge of the Joint Force Requirements Process (JFRP) or predecessor JCIDS.
- Familiarity with OSD, Joint Staff, HQDA, COCOM, ASCC, and capability development organizations.
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
