Child Development Specialist / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Compensation: $23-25 per hour; paid bi-weekly
Employment Type: W-2, Part-Time Employee; Non-Exempt (opportunities for full-time advancement available!)
Schedule: Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm; scheduling approximately 20 hours per week
Location: Clinic and School Settings

Waverly is seeking an energetic and engaged Child Development Specialist (RBT) to work with preschool-aged children with autism in our clinic and in community preschools throughout Greenwich and surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate with a background in psychology, education, child development, or a related field who is interested in gaining meaningful, hands-on experience with young children and exploring graduate school or a career in a therapeutic profession.

Child Development Specialists provide individualized support to help children communicate, participate, learn, build relationships, and become more independent. The work is active and play-based—you might build a block tower, join a pretend-play game, explore the playground, teach communication or cognitive skills, support participation in a classroom activity, or help a child develop a new skill.

At Waverly, you'll collaborate with and learn from experienced clinicians, including psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, and behavior analysts.

• Obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential: The Waverly Group will provide coursework, training and compensation for initial certification exams, enabling candidates to sit for certification examination and ongoing supervision to maintain credential.
• Work with preschool-aged children with autism in clinic and community preschool settings.
• Foster positive, supportive relationships with children through play, connection, and engagement.
• Teach communication, social, play, cognitive, adaptive, and daily living skills.
• Implement individualized programs under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Collect data and maintain clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other members of the care team.
• Participate in supervision, training, and case consultation.

• Compensation: $23-$25 per hour; paid bi-weekly

• Training beyond the task list on topics such as Client Dignity, Ableism, Assent, Disruptive Behavior, Anxiety and School Avoidance

• Bachelor's Degree (preferably in psychology, education, or related field).
• Experience working with children.
• Experience in the field of special needs children is preferred, but not required.
• Laptop or personal electronic device for data collection.
• Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and display flexibility.
• High ethical and professional standards.
• Enthusiasm for working with young children.
• Willingness to learn new clinical skills.
• Ability to work as a team player while also taking initiative is essential.
• Ability to receive and provide collaborative feedback to/from team members.
