Test Engineer Senior - Systems in Groton, Connecticut at Electric Boat

Department 428 Electrical Systems is looking for a highly motivated test engineer to fill an engineering laboratory position in the Monitoring & Control System Group.

The Monitoring & Control Systems Group is a COLUMBIA Program dedicated team responsible for the development of the Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Monitoring and Control (HMC) system. The HMC system is a networked based system that provides signal conditioning and electrical flow paths for control, indication, monitoring, and alarms based on sensor (e.g. temperature, pressure, salinity) data. HMC features comprehensive use of network switches, servers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and display panels located throughout the ship for monitoring and control. The HMC system team develops and maintains the system software and hardware, utilizing the HMC Development and Test System (HDTS) lab.

Primary Technical tasks may include:

• Perform HMC hardware component-level testing, configuration, integration and troubleshooting
• Install, configure and maintain hardware within the HMC HDTS.
• Maintain hardware configuration management, including baselining, version control and change tracking
• Support lab logistics, including component documentation, material ordering and asset tracking
• Provide HMC System maintenance and troubleshooting support in-lab and on-hull
  • Deck plate support
  • Installation support, troubleshooting, ship checks

Secondary Technical tasks may include:

• Assist with System-Level Qualification Testing, Hardware/Software Testing, Integration and Troubleshooting
• Verify system and component compliance with shipbuilding specification requirements
• Develop system / component test procedures and support qualification test execution
• Support development and maintenance of system / component technical manuals, including ship system manuals and operating instructions

Occasional travel may be required for these positions.

Required:

• 5+ years of Navy experience or Submarine Shipbuilding experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the DOD

Preferred:

• Electrical / Computer technician experience
• Experience in industrial environments
• Experience with network-based systems to include ethernet and fiber
• Knowledge of Military system or component development for Naval Platforms
• Experience with project management and systems engineering practices and principles including configuration management
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field
