Overview

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $77,600–$98,300. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. The Bath Iron Works Information Technology team is seeking a motivated individual to join its IT Project Management team as a Business Analyst.

Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the IT Business Analyst ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.

This position is located in Bath, Maine and has onsite responsibilities. Full remote work is not an available option.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership:

  • Understand and demonstrate BIW safety policies and procedures in Main Yard operations.
  • Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness and accountability across the team.
  • Ensure safe workplace conditions and compliance with government and company safety standards.

Project Execution

  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a projectbyproject basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing against the requirements.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
  • Provides comprehensive administrative, analytical, and coordination support across the Project Management Office and its processes to enhance workflow and overall project delivery.

Training and Development

  • Develop and conduct peer reviews of business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
  • Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.

Team Collaboration and Communication

  • Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
  • Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.

Continuous Improvement

  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirement gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.


Responsibilities

  • 3+ years of related work experience, preferably in a large-scale manufacturing environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Smartsheet.

  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and act on it.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Willingness to travel (local to Bath, ME).
  • Work takes place primarily in an office environment.
