Job Description
Electrical Journeyman - Central Campus
- Maintains, repairs and replaces inside and outside lighting
- Maintains, repairs and replaces all electrical equipment
- Performs preventative maintenance (PM) on elevators
- Performs PM on Code Blue emergency phones
- Performs PM on variable frequency drives
- Maintains standby generator systems
- Closes out work orders and maintains inventory
- Maintains, repairs and replaces emergency and egress lighting
- Assists outside contractors
- Retrofits or installs electrical systems
- Assists other crafts, faculty, staff and students
- Shuts down 12470 gear and inspects, repairs, and cleans
- Surveys repairs to problems with electrical systems
- Completes surveys, studies and evaluations of electrical components and systems
- Attends trainings as assigned by supervisor and/or the College to keep abreast of changing technology and to meet licensing requirements
- Ability to demonstrate the College values
- Must be neat in appearance, and be willing to work outside, in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in an office, and classroom environment, and maintain a courteous and professional attitude at all times.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Must be willing to train and be certified on lifts and other heavy equipment
- Ability to perform all installations per the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Must be self-sufficient, and self-motivated
- Must be able to keep safety of faculty, staff, and students at the front of all projects
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years electrical apprenticeship, either formal or on the job training
- Ten years of experience in the electrical industry with five years as a Licensed Journeyman Electrician, preferably Commercial.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
- State of Texas Journeyman Electrician License
Salary Grade: 110
Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
