JOB SUMMARY:

The primary functions of the Food Service Worker is to perform a variety of duties relating to cafeteria-style service. These services include greeting customers, assisting clients with signing of meal vouchers, and food preparation. The Food Service Worker will also maintain all sanitation standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

Greet customers.
Take food orders and prepare orders for customers.
Add food order cost on cash register.
Take money from customer for food order.
Restock hot/cold food items as necessary.
Wrap and store food items after meal periods.
Clean workstation to ensure the area is free of debris and possible hazardous obstructions.
Assists physically challenged customers with meal trays, meal selections, basic service.
Clean equipment daily.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Cafe Manager.
Report for work as scheduled.
Work effectively with co-workers, customers, and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner, by listening to and objectively considering the ideas and suggestions from others, keeping commitments, keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions, addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier, and respecting the diversity of our work force in actions, words and deeds.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability read and understand English.
Present a neat and clean appearance.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to stand, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Reliable attendance, prompt arrival on scheduled shifts.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Ability to listen effectively to both customers and staff.
Ability to maintain and provide calm and courteous attitude in volatile and stressful situations.
Ability to maintain good working relationship with co-workers.
Flexibility to change priorities regarding assignments and work schedule.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
Minimum one (1) year experience in food service and/or customer service.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standing and sitting for long periods of time along with being able to move and walk to various locations, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, and lifting (25-30 lbs.).
Hand and eye coordination.
Ability to see, hear and talk clearly in order to receive information and to give information.
Ability to operate a cash register and have 5 finger manipulation with full arm rotation.
Work indoors in temperature-controlled environment, occasional outdoors.

Read clearly, both text and numbers.
Repetitive hand motion.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 as defined by CDC and able to provide proof.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to work alone, with others, around others, have verbal contact with others, face-to-face contact, work inside (temps ranging from 0-100), ability to withstand temperatures below 40 degrees, work in confined areas, work with noise, work with and around fumes and odors.
