Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year

Position Description – What the Role Entails:

  • The People & Culture Senior Generalist serves as a strategic partner in supporting the organization’s people’s initiatives while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws. This position is responsible for administering employee benefits, leave programs, employee relations, HR compliance, performance management support, and day-to-day People & Culture operations.
  • The Senior Generalist promotes a positive employee experience by exceptional customer service, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

Areas of Accountability - What you will be doing:

  • Benefits Administration
  • Administer all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
  • Conduct new hire benefits orientation.
  • Manage annual Open Enrollment, including employee communications, education sessions, and enrollment support.
  • Process qualifying life events and benefit changes.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure accurate payroll deductions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with benefit carriers and brokers.
  • Respond to employee benefit inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Leave Administration
  • Administer Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), ADA accommodations, Paid Leave, Personal Leave, Military Leave, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Coordinate leave documentation and maintain confidential records.
  • Monitor employee leave balances and communicate with supervisors regarding employee status.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state leave regulations.
  • Employee Relations
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns.
  • Assist with investigations involving employee relations matters.
  • Support performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and documentation.
  • Assist with conflict resolution while promoting a respectful workplace culture.
  • Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Ensure employee files and electronic records remain audit-ready.
  • Monitor required compliance training and employee certifications.
  • Support organizational compliance initiatives, including accreditation and regulatory audits.
  • Maintain HR policies and recommend updates as regulations change.
  • HR Operations
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Process employee status changes within the HRIS.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in Paylocity.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and data analytics.
  • Support payroll by ensuring benefit deductions, employment changes, and leave information are accurate.
  • Assist with unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
  • Performance Management
  • Support annual performance evaluations.
  • Monitor evaluation completion deadlines.
  • Assist managers with coaching and development plans.
  • Track corrective action plans and performance improvement plans.
  • Employee Engagement
  • Support employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with wellness initiatives and employee events.
  • Promote employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives.
  • Participate in onboarding orientation and new employee experience activities.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Assist with special People & Culture projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Rincon’s Work Environment – What to expect:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to travel between agency locations as needed.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour day, 1-hour unpaid lunch.
  • Monday through Friday, some evenings and weekends.

Language:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish candidates preferred.

Position Qualifications – What is required to Perform the Role:

  • 5+ years of experience, (non-profit setting preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years administering employee benefits.
  • Experience with leave administration (FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation).
  • Experience conducting employee investigations preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Experience using HRIS systems, preferably Paylocity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, EEOC, and wage and hour regulations.
  • Knowledge of EHRS (Paylocity).
  • Experience creating and presenting executive reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certified (Preferred)
