Location: Austin, IN

Pay: Starting at $20.00/hour
1-Year Rate: $25.63 – $26.23/hour, depending on job classification, with annual increases.

Opportunity:

Morgan Foods, Inc. has several plant floor General Labor – Manufacturing roles available. These are full-time, on-site positions with multiple shifts and multiple openings available.

General Labor employees play a critical role in producing high-quality, shelf-stable food products through production support, material handling, basic equipment operation, cleaning, housekeeping, and sanitation duties. These roles support production goals through teamwork, reliability, safe work practices, and strict adherence to food safety and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Is a Safety Champion for the organization by following safety rules and helping ensure employees and the work environment are safe.
  • Operate basic manufacturing equipment under supervision and in accordance with training.
  • Supply materials to production lines to support safe and efficient production.
  • Remove finished goods, supplies, packaging materials, or other materials from production areas as assigned.
  • Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  • Follow all safety rules, GMPs, food safety requirements, sanitation procedures, quality standards, company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, quality concerns, injuries, near misses, or unsafe conditions promptly to supervision.
  • Participate in team meetings, safety meetings, required training, and other company communication activities.
  • Assist with line start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, production support, material movement, and cleaning activities as assigned.
  • Perform repetitive production tasks while maintaining focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, lead employees, trainers, and team members to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas in accordance with company expectations.
  • Work cooperatively with Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, and other departments as needed.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors, lead employees, trainers, and authorized company representatives.
  • Support production goals through teamwork, reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production, sanitation, quality, safety, and plant operations.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physical labor in a manufacturing environment. Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, twist, reach, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, grasp, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs. as required by the position.

Environmental Requirements:

Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment that is not climate controlled and may have variable temperatures. Work areas may include production, sanitation, warehouse, and material handling areas that may be wet, humid, noisy, warm, cold, or require personal protective equipment.

Communication Requirements:

Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety rules, GMPs, sanitation requirements, quality standards, and company procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, lead employees, and support departments to help maintain safe and efficient operations.

Scheduling & Availability:

Ability to work assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, with flexibility to support production demands, staffing needs, sanitation requirements, training, and operational needs.

Education / Training / Skills / Experience / Personal Attributes:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, sanitation, food production, or material handling experience preferred, but not required.
  3. Forklift experience is preferred but not required. Employees may be trained and certified internally based on job classification, position assignment, and operational need.
  4. Food manufacturing experience is a plus.
  5. Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and completing repetitive tasks.
  6. Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  7. Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, lead employees, trainers, and team members.
  9. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  11. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to meet production needs.
  12. Willingness to learn multiple tasks, departments, or job classifications as needed.
  13. Ability to successfully complete required company training, safety training, food safety training, GMP training, and job-specific training.
  14. Works within a person-centered, collaborative approach.
  15. Ability to work independently while contributing and collaborating within a larger team environment.

On-site position. Multiple shifts and multiple openings are available. Employees must have flexibility to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternate schedules as needed to meet production, staffing, sanitation, training, and operational needs.

Must be able to pass a drug screen on the first day of employment.

Travel: Negligible.

Compensation: Starting pay is $20.00/hour. After one year of employment, pay will increase on the employee’s anniversary date in accordance with the Union contract and based on assigned job classification. Current 1-year rates range from $25.63 – $26.23/hour, depending on job classification, with annual increases.
