Community Helping Addicts Negotiate Chance Effectively (CHANCE) is a peer recovery support center and emergency housing shelter in Albany, OR. We provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for around 100+ individuals per meal. The meal is the same for everyone, so there are no special orders or variations. You work by yourself or with the Kitchen Manager and another cook depending on the day and the shift. This position is full-time and responsible for following a meal plan and recipes to prepare and serve the assigned meals each day for those visiting our day center and living at our shelter. You will ensure that the kitchen is cleaned following dinner on the days you work the PM shift and serve food when needed.
The hours for this position are Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5 am -1:30 pm, Monday and Tuesday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm. You will work closely with the Kitchen Manager and other cooks each day and assist in whatever they need to provide the meals.
These tasks include:
- Completing all tasks, in order, as requested by your supervisor.
- Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing the kitchen.
- Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.
- Serves and plates food.
- Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients.
- Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes.
- Handle and store ingredients and food.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with unloading food orders from delivery trucks.
- Pick up, date, rotate, and stock food

Requirements:Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Food handlers’ card or Safe Serve certification.
- Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and ability to be insured.
- At least 1 year experience cooking in a commercial kitchen
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Must follow CHANCE’s Code of Conduct, and policies and procedures.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or communicate need/strategy for accommodations regarding heavy lifting.
