Job Summary:
The Purchasing Assistant is primarily responsible for the day-to-day preparation of purchase orders via submitted and approved Purchase Requisitions. Transmit purchase orders to suppliers and monitor open purchase orders until delivery. In addition, the Purchasing Assistant will review material requirement reports and bar stock requirement reports to identify purchasing needs, as determined by the Purchasing Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Place purchase orders for items with suppliers. Both MRO and inventory related
- Obtaining approval of purchase requisitions, if requisitions are submitted without the proper approvals
- Attend weekly production meetings to report on the status of open purchase orders
- Manage purchase orders with Suppliers
- Manage and resolve any supplier defective material issues
- Monitor workflow of purchasing area
- Must be able to handle several tasks at the same time under time constraints
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fluent in English (Good Communication Skills)
- Basic Math Skills (measuring, use of calculator)
- Ability to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to handle several tasks at the same time under time constraints
