Principal / Lead UI/UX Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal / Lead UI/UX Designer based in India.

As a Principal / Lead UI/UX Designer, you will define the design vision for a sophisticated enterprise platform at the intersection of Generative AI, conversational interfaces, data visualization, and voice technology. You’ll transform complex AI evaluation metrics, testing workflows, and telephony analytics into intuitive, accessible, and engaging user experiences. The role combines strategic design leadership with hands-on UX direction and team mentorship. You’ll establish scalable design standards and strengthen a component-based design system across the product ecosystem. Working closely with Product and Engineering leadership, you’ll ensure design decisions balance customer needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility. You’ll also shape design culture, research practices, and delivery quality across a globally distributed environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and champion the overall UX/UI vision, design strategy, and user-centered design principles across the enterprise platform.
  • Translate complex Generative AI evaluation metrics, test execution workflows, analytics, and voice infrastructure data into clear and intuitive interfaces.
  • Establish design frameworks, quality standards, governance practices, and scalable processes that promote consistency and design excellence.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a team of UI/UX designers while fostering creativity, collaboration, continuous feedback, and user empathy.
  • Manage design resources, project allocation, priorities, and delivery schedules in alignment with product and engineering roadmaps.
  • Facilitate design critiques, research reviews, workshops, and collaborative sessions to continuously elevate design quality.
  • Oversee the evolution and governance of the enterprise Design System, promoting component reuse, consistency, scalability, and efficient handoffs.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to align user experience with customer needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility.
  • Direct qualitative and quantitative user research, usability testing, prototyping, and customer feedback initiatives.
  • Use research insights and behavioral data to validate concepts and drive continuous product and UI improvements.
  • Present design strategies and UX concepts effectively to senior executives, enterprise customers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong design culture focused on innovation, accessibility, usability, and measurable user impact.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of professional UI/UX design experience, ideally within complex enterprise SaaS, B2B software, or deep-tech environments.
  • At least 2+ years of experience leading, managing, mentoring, or developing UI/UX design teams.
  • Comprehensive portfolio demonstrating strategic UX leadership, complex data visualization, design system development, and end-to-end user-centered design.
  • Proven ability to establish design direction, lead design reviews, and build effective design operations and processes.
  • Expert proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Figma and FigJam.
  • Deep experience creating, maintaining, and governing component-based design systems.
  • Strong knowledge of user research methodologies, prototyping, usability testing, and qualitative and quantitative research practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with frontend engineering teams and understand modern technologies such as React and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence executive leadership and enterprise clients.
  • Experience working effectively with globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Experience designing AI/ML interfaces, analytics dashboards, data-dense applications, or conversational AI and voice platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and internationalization considerations for SaaS products is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with design sprint methodologies and product-led growth strategies is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, leadership, collaboration, and user empathy.
Benefits:
  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Full-time opportunity with a senior-level scope and significant design leadership responsibility.
  • Opportunity to shape UX strategy for products involving Generative AI, conversational AI, voice technology, analytics, and enterprise software.
  • High-impact role with direct influence over product experience, design culture, and design system maturity.
  • Opportunity to lead and mentor a talented UI/UX design team.
  • Close collaboration with senior Product and Engineering leadership.
  • Exposure to complex enterprise use cases, data visualization, AI evaluation workflows, and modern technology platforms.
  • Opportunity to work with globally distributed teams and international enterprise stakeholders.
  • Strong professional development opportunities across UX strategy, design systems, research, leadership, and emerging technologies.
