Description:

Position Summary

The Prayer Shield Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of PreBorn!’s Prayer House ministry. Reporting to the Director of Prayer House, this role ensures that prayer coverage, intercessor schedules, ministry priorities, prayer requests, and special prayer initiatives are carried out consistently, prayerfully, and with excellence.

The Prayer Shield Coordinator serves as the primary operational leader of the Prayer House, translating the Director’s vision and strategy into effective daily ministry rhythms. This individual will lead onsite and remote intercessors, facilitate prayer gatherings, coordinate prayer assignments, and help ensure that PreBorn!’s leadership, employees, pregnancy clinic partners, donors, strategic initiatives, and organizational needs receive intentional and sustained prayer coverage.

This role requires a spiritually mature leader who is deeply committed to prayer, capable of leading people, and able to bring structure, organization, and accountability to a ministry environment without diminishing the spiritual nature of the work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Prayer House Leadership

  • Translate the Director of Prayer House’s strategic vision into practical schedules, assignments, and operating plans.
  • Ensure established prayer coverage is maintained throughout designated Prayer House operating hours.

  • Facilitate prayer meetings, intercessory sessions, and special prayer gatherings as assigned.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, encouragement, and spiritual support to Prayer House staff.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational issues within the Prayer House.
  • Provide leadership continuity when the Director of Prayer House is unavailable.

Intercessor Leadership and Development

  • Directly supervise assigned Prayer House Intercessors and other designated team members.
  • Establish clear expectations for prayer assignments, scheduling, participation, confidentiality, and ministry conduct.
  • Coach and develop intercessors in spiritual maturity, biblical prayer, discernment, teamwork, and organizational understanding.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, team meetings, and performance discussions.
  • Assist the Director with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and training of Prayer House staff.
  • Help develop a strong team culture centered on humility, unity, prayer, faithfulness, and PreBorn!’s Core Values.
  • Identify team development needs and recommend training or ministry-development opportunities.

Prayer Coverage and Assignments

  • Build and maintain prayer coverage for PreBorn!’s organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate specific prayer assignments for:
    • Executive Leadership

    • urgent or crisis needs
  • Ensure intercessors receive appropriate and sufficient context to pray effectively while protecting confidential information.
  • Help develop structured prayer portfolios for departments, clinic partners, regions, or ministry initiatives.
  • Review prayer priorities regularly and adjust assignments based on current organizational needs.

Prayer Request Management

  • Oversee the Prayer House prayer-request process in partnership with the Prayer Operations & Communications Coordinator.
  • Ensure prayer requests are received, categorized, prioritized, routed, and followed up appropriately.
  • Identify urgent, highly confidential, or sensitive prayer requests requiring escalation to the Director.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality standards and reinforce those standards across the Prayer House team.
  • Ensure confidential spiritual information is shared only with individuals who have a legitimate ministry need to know.
  • Help establish clear boundaries between prayer ministry, pastoral care, Human Resources, counseling, and other organizational functions.

Corporate and Departmental Prayer

  • Support and facilitate PreBorn!’s regular corporate prayer rhythms.
  • Coordinate focused prayer for organizational departments and leadership teams.
  • Partner with department leaders to understand relevant ministry priorities and prayer needs.
  • Help organize special prayer gatherings related to major ministry decisions, campaigns, clinic initiatives, events, or periods of significant organizational need.

Clinic and Ministry Partner Prayer

  • Support the development of structured prayer coverage for pregnancy clinic partners.
  • Coordinate clinic prayer assignments among Prayer House staff.
  • Work with Client Services and other ministry teams to receive appropriate clinic prayer requests and ministry updates.
  • Help develop regional or portfolio-based prayer coverage as the number of clinic partners grows.

    • clinic prayer coverage
    • prayer-request response times
    • volunteer engagement
  • Prepare regular updates for the Director regarding ministry activity, staffing, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain operational accountability without attempting to quantify spiritual outcomes or the effectiveness of prayer itself.

The Prayer Shield Coordinator is expected to:

  • Maintain a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrate a strong personal life of prayer and dependence upon God.
  • Lead through spiritual maturity, humility, discernment, and servant leadership.
  • Create structure without allowing administration to overshadow ministry.
  • Model emotional maturity, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Develop people rather than simply manage schedules.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate PreBorn!’s Core Values of Steadfast, Adaptable, Integrity, Fruitful, and Prayerful.
  • Support PreBorn!’s mission to glorify Jesus Christ by saving more babies and souls.
