Position Description: (paragraph)

The Aerospace Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer, quality, and regulatory requirements. This position provides leadership to production personnel, drives continuous improvement, manages production schedules and resources, and ensures the facility consistently meets established quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, aerospace manufacturing experience, and a demonstrated ability to manage people, processes, and production priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily production operations to achieve established safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees, including Leads and Supervisors.
  • Establish daily and weekly production priorities based on customer requirements, production schedules, staffing, and available resources.
  • Monitor production performance and take appropriate corrective action when goals or schedules are not being met.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are performed in accordance with approved work instructions, drawings, specifications, procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Planning, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve production issues and maintain workflow.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and production constraints and implement solutions to improve throughput.
  • Monitor labor utilization, overtime, scrap, rework, productivity, and other key manufacturing metrics.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and other process-improvement methodologies.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and qualified for their assigned work.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and coordinate employee assignments to meet production requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate production issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, FAA requirements, AS9100 requirements, and applicable aerospace industry standards.
  • Review and approve production records and documentation as required.
  • Work closely with Quality to address nonconformances, customer concerns, and quality trends.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Support new product introductions, process changes, and manufacturing improvements.
  • Assist with capital equipment planning, facility improvements, tooling requirements, and production capacity planning.
  • Maintain effective communication with employees and management regarding production status, priorities, challenges, and performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for production personnel.
  • Manage employee attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably within the aerospace industry.
  • 3+ years of progressive supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop production teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing/ERP systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred Experience in an AS9100-certified aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Preferred Experience with capacity planning, production scheduling, and labor planning

  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the production facility as required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials and equipment consistent with company requirements.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, noise, and other typical production-floor conditions.
