Position Overview

GDIT is seeking a dynamic and highly technical Network Engineering Sr Manager to lead cloud and data center network teams across project delivery and operations. This role blends engineering expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to drive successful program execution, modernize network platforms, and support the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead and manage project‑delivery network engineering teams and network operations teams supporting cloud and data center infrastructures.
  • Define and delegate engineering and project tasks; oversee project budgets, schedules, resource planning, and quality objectives.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and staff, enhancing both technical capabilities and essential soft skills.
  • Serve as escalation point for critical issues; assess situations and deliver timely, effective resolutions.


Technical Strategy & Architecture
  • Design, develop, and review technical network solutions aligned to customer requirements and organizational goals.
  • Drive innovation by researching emerging technologies, conducting pilots, evaluating vendors, and developing business cases.
  • Build scalable, resilient architectures using Cisco Data Center technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, cloud networking, and modern automation approaches.


Business Engagement & Growth
  • Support proposal development, solutioning, and service delivery efforts to help secure new business and re‑compete contracts.
  • Translate customer and program requirements into actionable technical and service solutions.
  • Work collaboratively across leadership, stakeholders, and clients to communicate program status, trends, risks, and opportunities.


Operational Excellence
  • Evaluate and improve existing policies, processes, and operational practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance.
  • Measure and assess product, process, and team performance; develop strategies and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to financial planning, ensuring technology decisions align with budget expectations and long‑term business impact.


Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years managing network engineering teams required; 7+ years strongly preferred
  • 3+ years hands‑on Network Engineering/Architecture experience
  • Experience with Cisco Data Center technologies
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewall platforms
  • Familiarity with enterprise and cloud networking solutions
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation, and requirements interpretation


Security Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

GDIT typically provides new employees with 15 days of paid leave per calendar year to be used for vacations, personal business, and illness and an additional 10 paid holidays per year. Paid leave and paid holidays are prorated based on the employee's date of hire. The GDIT Paid Family Leave program provides a total of up to 160 hours of paid leave in a rolling 12 month period for eligible employees.
