Job Description

Annuity Specialist

Position Description

I. Position Responsibilities

The Annuity Specialist is the primary inside point of contact for independent agents and distribution partners selling our annuity products. This role builds and maintains agent relationships, generates market interest, and supports sales and marketing initiatives that drive application flow and production. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and energized by building relationships by phone and in virtual settings.

  • Proactively contacts new and existing agents and distribution partners by phone, email, and virtual meeting to identify sales opportunities, promote company products, and grow production; this is the primary focus of the role.
  • Educates agents on product features, competitive positioning, underwriting guidelines, and sales concepts; answers pre-sale and case-specific questions accurately and promptly.
  • Serves as a first point of contact for agent and customer inquiries, resolving issues directly or routing them to the appropriate department and following through to resolution.
  • Supports marketing campaigns, product launches, sales promotions, and agent incentive programs, including follow-up outreach to drive participation.
  • Coordinates with management, sales, marketing, new business, underwriting, and operations to address agent needs and resolve case, contracting, and process issues.
  • Schedules, prepares materials for, and supports webinars, agent training sessions, and occasional agency visits and on-site presentations.
  • Tracks calls, follow-ups, pipeline activity, and opportunities in the CRM; prepares activity and production reports; and shares agent feedback and market trends with leadership.
  • Maintains current knowledge of company products, competitor offerings, and applicable insurance regulations; ensures all communications follow company and compliance guidelines.
  • Performs other sales and marketing duties as assigned.

II. Position Complexity, Interaction & Impact
The Annuity Specialist exercises independent judgment in prioritizing outreach, managing a high volume of agent interactions, and determining how best to respond to inquiries. Decisions are made within established product guidelines, underwriting standards, compliance requirements, and company procedures; exceptions and complex case issues are escalated to the supervisor or the appropriate department.

The position has no direct reports but uses persuasion and influence to motivate agents to place business with the company and to secure timely support from internal teams.

Interaction is primarily informative and coordinative: educating agents on products and processes, promoting sales initiatives, and coordinating case and service needs across departments. The role reports to and works regularly with the direct supervisor and the EVP, Annuity Distribution, and interacts daily with external agents, distribution partners, and the sales team.

This position directly impacts LBIG’s success by strengthening agent loyalty, increasing application flow and production, and delivering a responsive, high-quality experience that sets the company apart with its distribution partners.

III. Desired Education, Work Experience and Competencies

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years in financial services, annuities, or life insurance, preferably in inside sales, marketing support, agent/broker relations, or customer service. Annuity experience is a plus.
  • Licensing: Active Texas Life and Health insurance license preferred, or willingness to obtain one within a company-specified timeframe.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a confident, professional phone presence
  • Strong relationship-building and persuasion skills with a proactive, sales-oriented mindset
  • Ability to explain product information clearly and accurately
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom); CRM experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and follow-ups
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Customer-focused, with a sense of urgency in responding to agent needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Work Environment: In-office position based in Dallas, TX, five days a week. Occasional travel may be required for agency visits, presentations, or industry events.
