About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Media Director is responsible for leading a team of Media Strategists and Media Buyers accountable for the timely analysis, design, development, submission, implementation, and settlement of high-volume (400+) media campaigns (Radio, OTT, OOH, print) per year. Additionally, the Media Director must have experience with Hispanic markets and the development of promotional buy opportunities working alongside the network and station Programming and Sales Departments to implement trade systems (tickets for promotions), innovative promotional plans, events, and contests for all the company tours, concerts, festivals, events and other intellectual properties.
ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The primary responsibility for this role is to lead the development and execution of innovative media strategies and partnerships in order to drive reach, awareness, consideration, demand and sales by creating insights-led and data-driven holistic media plans to ensure the efficacy of investment, balancing the need to meet ROAS goals.
Other responsibilities include:
- Craft the next level of integrated media and marketing strategies working closely with Entertainment VP’s and Tour Managers to align media recommendations with overall brand strategy and campaign goals.
- Work closely with the Marketing Team to gather and understand ad specifications and trafficking of creative assets to media outlets.
- Manage media agency partner teams to ensure that strategies and plans deliver against business objectives and create impact in the market
- Executes and ensures campaign airing as agreed upon in contracts.
- Uncovering and sharing audience insights, media habits, and media usage trends.
- Stays up to date on traditional media landscape, including best practices and optimization strategies.
- Meets with media providers to discuss current agreements, negotiate rates, and explore new opportunities.
- Requests additional buys from networks/stations that may come available for client consideration.
- Maintains good standing relationships with clients and networks through timely and efficient communication.
- Manages communication traffic from client and media providers.
- Works in partnership with finance team and media providers as needed to be sure billing is accurate.
- Multitasks and manages multiple campaigns at once.
- Schedules and delivers monthly reporting and analysis.
- Properly fills all contract agreements and discussions between clients and media providers, ensuring each party is operating in accordance with agreements.
- Acts as the primary negotiator for all assigned broadcast markets.
- Ensures the highest quality buys at the lowest competitive market prices.
- Approves invoices and ensures the accuracy of media related expenses.
- Addresses invoicing discrepancies with vendors.
- Attends meetings as needed or requested by the Director/Supervisor including internal/external presentations.
- Provides industry/market intelligence to further educate the team that may impact media plans.
- Remains informed of radio stations, formats, playlists, audiences and changes within assigned markets and updates as necessary.
- Proactively seeks added value for all broadcast purchases beyond traditional billboards and bonus spots.
- Evaluates sponsorship opportunities in assigned markets and make written. recommendations to account groups and/or clients.
- Constantly trains media buyers, strategists, Marketing Team, Entertainment Team and Client Services team and is available for questions and assistance.
- Identifies promotional opportunities and manages creation and execution.
- Attends industry events and stays updated on all new media initiatives.
- Meets with new media vendors and identifies opportunities for growth.
- Leverages media relationships to support Public Relations efforts.
- Coordinating interviews with artist management and media partners.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Certification/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or work equivalent combination in marketing, communications, business administration and/or a related discipline.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Proven ability to conceive and develop quality, well-conceived and successful media plans.
- Media, communications, and media promotions executive with 8+ years of deep functional leadership experience in relevant media areas and integrated marketing communications
- 3+ years’ experience in a Director or Senior Manager role
- Experienced in all relevant Media expressions such as Radio, OTT, OOH, and print.
- Broadcast/Integrated Promotions background.
- Strategy and Media channels knowledge as it applies to Hispanic Market reach.
- Experience negotiating short and long-term contracts with vendors.
- Experience managing and coordinating inter-departmental efforts at the director and/or senior level.
- Experience in working with the entertainment industry is highly desirable.
- Full-service agency or major media buying service experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional:
- Flexibility and willingness to work unconventional hours (nights and weekends) when necessary.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Able to complete multiple duties with accuracy while shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines.
- Fast paced environment with peaks of intensity and increase in workloads.
