Job Title: Kitchen Staff Supervisor
Reports To: Executive Chef / General Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Staff Supervisor to oversee daily kitchen operations at our full-service restaurant. This role ensures high standards of food quality, safety, cleanliness, and team performance while maintaining a positive and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for culinary excellence and the ability to motivate and manage a dynamic back-of-house team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and support kitchen staff including line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers, and porters.
* Ensure all food is prepared and presented in accordance with restaurant standards and recipes.
* Monitor kitchen workflow and adjust staffing or station assignments as needed.
* Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and coordinate communication between front and back of house.
* Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with local regulations.
* Assist with training, onboarding, and performance evaluation of kitchen employees.
* Maintain inventory and communicate supply needs to the Chef or purchasing team.
* Support scheduling efforts and help ensure labor costs stay within budget.
* Lead by example with a hands-on approach to problem-solving, food preparation, and team morale.
* Manage kitchen cleanliness and organization, including equipment maintenance and storage areas.
Qualifications:
* 2+ years of supervisory experience in a full-service restaurant kitchen.
* Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety protocols, and culinary techniques.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
* ServSafe or equivalent food handler certification (preferred or required by state law).
* Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
* Work in a hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environment.
