Position Information
Under the direction of the Facilities Services Custodial Supervisor, the Lead Custodian leads and guides by executing and performing a variety of custodial/housekeeping tasks. The Lead Custodian is responsible to maintain, disinfect, sanitize, and preserve the campus throughout the University of California, Riverside. In addition, the Lead Custodian acts as a subject matter expert and provides leadership to custodial staff who perform such tasks as: clean, dust, strip, wax, sweep, mop, polish, vacuum, replenish restrooms, and remove refuse/recycling throughout campus facilities, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, exteriors, etc. This position my work independently or as part of a team in assigned work areas. Oversees critical day-to-day operations in supervisor's absence. Maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students.The full salary range for the Lead Custodian position is $20.05 - $27.51 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.***Please note the realized minimum pay for this position will be $25 an hour.***

| Minimum of two (2) years of experience in custodial/housekeeping operations with an emphasis in floor care; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. | Required |
| Experience in safe use of a wide variety of equipment and machinery common to custodial services including, but not limited to; stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, wet/dry shop vacuums, carpet extractors (bonnet, dry, hydro extraction) cleaning machines, riding flooring cleaning machines, squeegees, brushes, etc. | Required |
| Experience in safe use of cleaning chemicals, their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods. | Required |
| Experience in proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces including, but not limited to resilient tile floors, carpeted floors and terrazzo floors. | Required |
