Job Description
A VMT typically work outdoors all summer! They will work with another technician in a truck. Several trucks work together as a crew and are managed by an experienced crew lead. The trucks are large (F350 – F550) and equipped with a large water tank and sprayer set up (Honda engine, valves, spray gun). VMTs are skilled map readers and can navigate the Western Canadian township system (once trained) to locations requiring treatment. Once arriving at the location, VMTs apply an herbicide solution as directed. Field Level Hazard Assessments, Driver Logs, Equipment Inspections and a detailed Vegetation Management Report will be digitally completed daily.
In order to be prepared for our season, we prioritize thorough training for VMTs on proper herbicide spraying practices, Preventative Maintenance (general truck maintenance and minor small engine repair), map reading, and Bear Awareness.

Applicators are also expected to use various techniques to manage vegetation including but not limited to: hand picking, weed trimming, and brush cutting
