About This Position
The RN Clinical Coordinator Provides consultative, educational and resource services to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to enhance clinical performance and facilitate quality patient care outcomes. Assists in coordination of day-to-day operations.
Essential Functions- Works as Permanent Charge Nurse implementing the plan of care; within the concepts of the Licensed Registered Nurse curriculum; with consideration for safety in practice; according to established prioritization of needs; documenting and communicating nursing interventions and responses of patient(s) to care.
- Evaluates patient(s) responses to nursing care rendered; documents and communicates evaluation data to appropriate health care team members; contributes to the modification of the nursing plan of care based on ongoing evaluation.
- Selects, trains, orients and assigns departmental staff. Coordinates orientation of new staff to ensure clinical competence. Assist with orientation of float and agency personnel. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Performs Introductory Period Evaluation and the Annual Evaluation process as well as goal setting.
- Assists in holding staff accountable for hospital, nursing and unit policies and procedures, competencies and process improvement initiatives.
- Assists in the education and preparation of nursing staff for accreditation visits (IDPH & TJC).
- Coordinates unit-based staffing assignments on a shift by shift basis to achieve high quality and cost effective care.
- Responsible for (2) administrative/education days and (2) patient care days per week. Must be assigned to patient care (2) days week as part of the scheduled work week.
Job Requirements :
- BSN preferred
- Excellent communication skills including negotiation skills; must be persistent and persuasive.
- Must be able to establish rapport and effective working relationships with physicians and Staff.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage a large workload within tight deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, coordinate, and make decisions relating to assigned tasks.
- Very strong customer service orientation, positive attitude, highly self-motivated, directed and change oriented.
