Job Description
Center for Hope and Safety, located in Bergen County, NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence and their children. We believe every person has the right to be safe, empowered, and free from violence.
The Chief Program Officer will provide leadership, direction, and management to all client service departments, and ensure that programming is coordinated, integrated, data-driven, and well executed. This role will ensure that the organization’s client services are consistent with the best practices of the organization’s strategic plan, budget, and governmental regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and direct all direct service-related programs and staff to achieve quality and outcome objectives, including Hotline, Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing, Community Services, Project CHILD, Legal Services, and the Domestic Violence Liaisons.
- Foster a client-centered, respectful, empowering environment in which clients can succeed and work with programs to prioritize safety, confidentiality, and inclusion.
- Evaluate programs to assure provision of quality services to the maximum number of individuals, using statistics, client satisfaction surveys, outcome measures, and other appropriate evaluation tools. Implement program improvements as indicated to re-measure/re-evaluate.
- Stay abreast of trends and best practices, and implement changes and/or new programs accordingly. Identify opportunities for new program(s) and/or enhancements.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of procedures consistent with Board Policy and conducive to safety, confidentiality, and inclusion.
- Participate in the annual strategic planning process.
- Establish program and staff goals consistent with the strategic plan.
- Collaborate on the design and writing of applications by ensuring compliance with foundation grant awards and government contracts.
- Ensure maintenance of case records for direct service clients.
- Represent, or ensure representation of, the organization on external committees, including those in Bergen County and at the state coalition, as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Licensed professional with clinical supervision credentials and MSW or related degree required
- Domestic Violence Specialist Certification (DVS) preferred
- Minimum 8 years' managerial experience in a human services setting, including victim services, required
- Valid Driver’s License necessary
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven ability in program operations, staff development, and supervision
- Extensive knowledge of, and sensitivity to, issues of domestic violence
- Experience in resource development, including grant writing
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, computer, and listening skills
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to meet agency needs
- Significant experience operating an interdisciplinary, multi-site organization
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use standard office equipment for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive keyboard and hand movements
