Summary of Support Services Specialist
The Support Service Specialist provides administrative operations and kitchen/ food service support. This is a multifaceted support role that assists with administrative operations, compliance and recordkeeping, school nutrition support, and day-to-day support of facilities / Operations functions. The position requires flexibility and a willingness to assist in a variety of capacities to support school operations. This position communicates effectively and promotes collaborative problem solving by demonstrating care and respect in considering the diverse experiences and perspectives of others. The ideal candidate will have prior administrative experience and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a wide variety of responsibilities. This role supports the Support Services Manager and requires someone who is organized, adaptable, proactive, and comfortable balancing changing priorities
WORK HOURS: Full time, 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, following the agency calendar.
LOCATION: 612 Oglesby Street, Normal, IL.
PAY: Hourly/ non-exempt, starting at $18.00 per hour, more based on experience and education.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to the Support Services Manager, including data entry, reporting, and operational coordination.
- Assists with scheduling, tracking projects and overdue tasks, coordinating with contractors and vendors, and supporting efficient daily facility and nutrition services operations
- Maintains a calendar of regular inspections of Baby Fold properties and leased properties and monitors completion annually.
- Assists with ISBE on-site reviews, corrective actions, and follow-up related to deficiencies or compliance requirements.
- Assists in completing annual food inventory for year-end financial statements. Maintains records of training in compliance with OSHA, Health Department, and National School Nutrition Program requirements. Manages allergy forms, routinely checking that they are current and notifying the nurse of any menu changes. Assists as needed to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Prior administrative or secretarial experience required. The ideal candidate is very organized, proactive, and persistent in following through on assignments and unresolved issues.
- Previous experience in school nutrition or food service preferred.
- School Food Handler Certificate, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Google programs.
- Demonstrated skills in database management, recordkeeping, organization, and maintaining accurate reports and statistics.
- Ability to establish priorities, maintain attention to detail, and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to cleanliness, organization, and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Must pass necessary background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance that meets The Baby Fold minimum requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations and a diverse workforce.
