Job Description
The Youth Coordinator is responsible for guiding a cohort of youth between the ages of 14 & 15 (20-30 participants per coordinator) through the 6-week Chicagobility program. The Coordinator serves as a mentor, facilitator, and advocate, ensuring that each youth’s Individual Action Plan is developed and regularly reviewed. This role is critical to providing wraparound services, monitoring progress, and addressing any barriers to engagement and completion.
Essential Functions
• Assist with the recruitment, enrollment, and intake process by verifying residency and eligibility.
• Conduct one-on-one sessions with youth to develop and update Individual Action Plans, setting personalized goals (e.g., obtaining a certification or improving time management) and identifying immediate barriers.
• Facilitate weekly check-ins and group meetings to monitor progress and provide continuous support.
• Coordinate referrals for additional supportive services (e.g., transportation assistance, mental health counseling, tutoring, or technology support).
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and progress using the designated digital system (e.g., Cityspan).
• Collaborate with program staff, including Culinary Instructors and Job Readiness Coaches, to ensure seamless delivery of curriculum and hands-on activities.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment through trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive communication.
• Support the planning and execution of final program events, such as the culinary showcase, and participate in post-program follow-up with alumni.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to resolve and/reframe conflict.
• Experience providing supervision of youth/young adults.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Competency in MS office applications.
• Background check conducted as a condition of employment.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office or at minimum, Microsoft Word.
Worker Traits:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible.
• Flexible and creative.
Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.
