Richelieu Hardware is currently seeking a Branch Manager for its Dartmouth, Nova Scotia operation.
This is a key leadership role responsible for the overall performance of the branch, including sales support, customer service, warehouse operations, inventory control, health and safety, employee engagement, and financial performance.
The Branch Manager will work closely with regional leadership, sales management, head office teams, and local employees to ensure the branch delivers strong customer service, operational efficiency, and profitable growth.
Main responsibilities
The Branch Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the Dartmouth branch, including customer service, warehouse, logistics, inventory, and administration.
- Building and maintaining a strong team culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Supporting sales growth by working closely with the sales team and ensuring the branch provides strong service to customers and sales representatives.
- Managing branch performance, including sales support, expenses, productivity, service levels, inventory accuracy, and operational KPIs.
- Reviewing financial and operational reports and taking action to improve branch profitability and efficiency.
- Ensuring proper inventory management, including stock availability, accuracy, slow-moving inventory review, and coordination with purchasing and product teams.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and professional branch environment.
- Ensuring health and safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements are respected.
- Recruiting, coaching, training, developing, and managing branch employees.
- Addressing employee performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Protecting company assets, including inventory, equipment, vehicles, facilities, and systems access.
- Working with head office functions including finance, HR, IT, purchasing, operations, and sales leadership.
- Supporting regional initiatives and contributing to the continued growth of Richelieu in Atlantic Canada.
- Performing other related duties as required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in branch management, operations, distribution, wholesale, building materials, industrial supply, hardware, or a related B2B environment.
- Strong people leadership skills with experience managing, coaching, and developing teams.
- A solid understanding of branch operations, customer service, warehouse processes, inventory control, and sales support.
- Financial acumen, including the ability to understand sales, gross margin, expenses, productivity, and profitability.
- Strong customer-service orientation and commercial mindset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with sales teams and corporate support functions.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to lead with professionalism and credibility.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP systems; AS/400 or JD Edwards experience would be considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in business, operations, management, or a related field.
- Leads with accountability, integrity, and common sense.
- Can bring stability, structure, and positive energy to a branch environment.
- Understands the importance of both customer service and operational discipline.
- Is comfortable working in a hands-on leadership role.
- Builds trust with employees, customers, sales representatives, and senior leadership.
- Takes pride in helping people and the business succeed.
- Has an entrepreneurial mindset and treats the branch like their own business.
