Job Description

Position Summary:

A Safety and Maintenance Coordinator combines the responsibilities of a Safety Coordinator and a Maintenance Coordinator, ensuring both workplace safety and the efficient operation of facilities and equipment.

Role Overview:

This role is critical in maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-maintained work environment. The coordinator develops and enforces safety programs, conducts inspections, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, while also planning, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance activities to keep equipment and facilities in optimal condition


Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety Coordination

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards
  • Provide safety training to employees and supervisors, promoting a safety culture
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records
  • Coordinate safety drills and ensure compliance with IHS and other regulatory standards
  • Maintenance Coordination

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee daily maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections
  • Oversee maintenance staff, provide training, and ensure proper implementation of maintenance procedures
  • Assist with solicitation and evaluation of quotes, bids, and proposals
  • Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and ensure efficient use of resources
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers for repairs and upgrades
  • Maintain equipment logs, inventory, and update maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS)
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are safe, clean, and compliant with safety regulations
  • Qualifications – Education and Experience:

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Facilities Management, or related field or related experience
  • Certifications: Safety certifications (e.g., IHS, OSHA 10, Pool Operator Certification, CSP, CHST, IOSH, NEBOSH) and familiarity with CMMS platforms. EMS certifications preferred but not required
  • Experience: Proven experience in both safety and maintenance coordination, with knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and preventive maintenance
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities; ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities; proficiency in safety management software and CMMS systems
