Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Applies foundational design engineering principles to support the development, modeling, and improvement of products and components. Works under close supervision to assist with CAD modeling, prototype development, and technical documentation while ensuring designs meet engineering, usability, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Deliverables of the Position:

1) Design Engineer for aircraft wheels and brakes, designing new wheel and brake system components with responsibility from the proposal and initial design concept through qualification and entry into service.

2) Create CAD models, engineering drawings, and design documentation for parts and assemblies.

3) Assist in development and evaluation of prototype designs to validate functionality and performance.

4) Conduct research on materials, manufacturing methods, and design alternatives.

5) Support development of design proposals, specifications, engineering analyses, test procedures, test reports, and parts lists.

6) Assist with material selection and basic cost estimation for design solutions.

7) Maintain accurate engineering documentation including revision histories and configuration records.

8) Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving discussions within engineering teams.

9) Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline
  • 0–2 years of design engineering experience; internship or co-op experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of design engineering principles and CAD tools
  • Performs work under direct supervision

Technical Competencies

1) CAD modeling and engineering drawing development, CATIA V5 experience a plus.

2) Basic design analysis and prototyping techniques

3) Material selection and manufacturing awareness

4) Technical documentation and configuration practices

5) Proficient Computer Skills: Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point

6) Excellent Communication Skills – verbal, written, and presentation skills. Occasional customer interface required with this position.
