Job Summary

The Groomer at JM Pet Resort & Veterinary Clinic provides grooming services for pets across multiple areas of our facility, including boarding, daycare, training and drop-off appointments. In alignment with our mission treats all pets like family. Groomers deliver services with compassion, focusing on both the emotional and physical well-being of each pet. You will engage with clients to gather feedback, ensure satisfaction and build lasting relationships.

This is a part-time position, including Sunday availability.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Completes superior grooms i.e. bathing, brushing, blow-drying, de-matting, cutting or trimming hair/ fur, gland expression, teeth brushing, nail clipping and grinding and other specialty services
  • Maintains a clean and organized shared grooming area
  • Learns and follows a color-coded caution system describing employee restrictions and permissions for dog handling
  • Uses all grooming forms as required including salon checklists, border check-in forms, grooming report cards, grooming surveys and grooming coupons
  • Practices positive reinforcement dog training using treats
  • Conducts all work in accordance with company policies and procedures ensuring the safety and well-being of each animal
  • Actively engages pet parents and pets, share product knowledge and educate pet parents
  • Positively interacts with pet parent’s in-person, via email, text and phone providing them with proactive communication and exceptional service
  • Assists with evacuation off all animals if an emergency occurs

Qualifications

  • 2+ year’s professional grooming experience
  • Passionate about animal welfare, treats all animals with compassion and kindness
  • Comfortable interacting with all dog breeds large and small

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Dog Groomer Professional Certification preferred

Computer Skills

  • Must be able to learn and efficiently use company software
  • Must be able to learn new technology in accordance with business needs

Physical Demands

  • Position requires a person to be both indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather
  • Majority of the day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly, up to 100 pounds with assist
  • Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs
  • Must be able to work around pet hair and dander
  • Must be able to climb 2 flights of stairs multiple times per day

The pay range for this role is:
15 - 23 USD per hour(JMPRVC)
