Lead Project Technician

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Project Technician based in the United States.

The Lead Project Technician will play a key role in delivering complex technology projects focused on Microsoft 365 environments, infrastructure modernization, and compliance initiatives.
This position combines technical expertise, project ownership, and client collaboration to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.
You will design and maintain Microsoft cloud environments, support migrations, and help organizations strengthen their security and operational capabilities.

Accountabilities:

The Lead Project Technician will be responsible for managing technical implementations, supporting infrastructure initiatives, and ensuring successful delivery of client-focused technology solutions.

  • Design, configure, and deploy Microsoft 365 Commercial, GCC, and GCC High environments following security, compliance, and scalability best practices.
  • Plan and execute Microsoft 365 migration projects, including Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange, third-party email systems, and SharePoint Online migrations.
  • Lead or support infrastructure projects such as network deployments, workstation migrations, server builds, and tenant reconfigurations.
  • Implement and maintain security and compliance solutions across client environments.
  • Support compliance initiatives, including CMMC-related activities, system maintenance, audit preparation, documentation updates, and required security controls.
  • Assist support teams with advanced troubleshooting, escalations, and complex technical issues requiring project-level expertise.
  • Mentor junior technical team members and provide guidance to improve team capabilities.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures, automation scripts, and technical documentation to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients throughout implementation phases to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Microsoft technology professional with strong infrastructure knowledge and the ability to manage multiple technical projects in a client-focused environment.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering, infrastructure projects, or Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Intune, and Entra ID/Azure AD.
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, networking, and Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with GCC and GCC High environments is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMMC, NIST 800-171, or similar compliance frameworks is a plus.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation and process improvement.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and clients.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, Microsoft Security Administrator Associate, CompTIA Security+, or compliance-related certifications are preferred.
