Job Description

As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. Our ideal Barista has a passion for coffee and enjoys interacting with people.

Reports To: Store Manager/Assistant Manager/Shift Lead

Essential Functions:

  • Beverage Preparation:
    • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, and other beverages according to standard recipes and customer specifications.
    • Operate and maintain coffee brewing equipment, espresso machines, grinders, and other related tools.
    • Ensure the quality and consistency of all beverages served.
    • Understand and adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Customer Service:
    • Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, efficient, and personalized service.
    • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, utilizing the point-of-sale (POS) system.
    • Answer customer questions about menu items, ingredients, and promotions.
    • Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and effectively, escalating issues to management when necessary.
    • Build rapport with regular customers and foster a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Cash Handling and Point of Sale (POS):
    • Accurately process customer transactions, including cash, credit, and mobile payments.
    • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and follow all cash handling procedures.
    • Understand and utilize the POS system for order entry, payment processing, and generating reports.
  • Maintaining a Clean and Organized Workspace:
    • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and customer areas regularly, including counters, tables, floors, and restrooms.
    • Restock supplies such as coffee beans, milk, cups, and condiments.
    • Ensure proper storage of all ingredients and supplies.
    • Follow opening and closing procedures as assigned.

Other Tasks (May Include):

  • Preparing and serving food items such as pastries, sandwiches, and snacks.
  • Taking inventory of supplies and communicating needs to management.
  • Assisting with receiving and stocking deliveries.
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Promoting current specials and new menu items.
  • Assisting with marketing and promotional activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous barista experience preferred, but not always required
  • Basic math skills and cash handling experience
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Food handler certification
