The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and basic repairs on manufacturing equipment and facility systems to maximize equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and support safe, efficient production.

This position takes a proactive approach to maintenance by identifying potential issues before they result in equipment failures. The Preventative Maintenance Technician works closely with Maintenance, Production, and other departments to ensure preventative maintenance activities are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

Preventative Maintenance

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on CNC machines, production equipment, and supporting systems according to established schedules and procedures.
• Complete routine inspections, lubrication, cleaning, adjustments, filter changes, fluid checks, and other scheduled maintenance activities.
• Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, loose components, abnormal noise, vibration, or other signs of potential failure.
• Identify developing equipment issues and communicate findings to the Maintenance Lead or appropriate team member.
• Assist with minor mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs within training and experience level.
• Support maintenance technicians with larger repairs and equipment troubleshooting as needed.
• Help ensure PM activities are completed on time to minimize production interruptions.

Equipment & Facility Support

• Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment and systems as assigned.
• Inspect machine guards, safety devices, hoses, belts, fittings, and other components for proper condition.
• Assist with equipment installations, moves, and modifications as needed.
• Maintain clean and organized maintenance and equipment areas.
• Report unsafe equipment conditions or facility concerns immediately.

Documentation & Organization

• Accurately document completed preventative maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and findings.
• Maintain PM records within the company's maintenance tracking system.
• Document parts replaced, equipment conditions, and recommended follow-up work.
• Help maintain accurate equipment maintenance histories.
• Ensure assigned PM work orders are completed accurately and closed in a timely manner.
• Communicate overdue or incomplete PM activities to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with maintaining an organized inventory of commonly used maintenance supplies and replacement parts.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable OSHA standards.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing maintenance activities.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability, safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve preventative maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Support root-cause investigations related to recurring equipment problems or failures.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
• Comply with all safety regulations.
• Comply with all Quality System requirements.

Qualifications:

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and preventative maintenance practices.
• Ability to follow written maintenance procedures, checklists, manuals, and work instructions.
• Basic computer skills for completing and documenting maintenance work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with Maintenance and Production teams.
• Reliable attendance and ability to complete assigned PM activities on schedule.
• Willingness to learn and develop additional mechanical and technical skills.

Preferred

• 1–3 years of maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical, or related experience.
• Technical degree, certificate, or coursework in industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or a related field.
• Previous experience working in a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and industrial equipment.
• Previous lockout/tagout training.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work around manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely use ladders and work at various heights when required.
• Ability to work in and around operating manufacturing equipment while following required safety procedures.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where noise, oils, coolants, and temperature variations may be present.

Work Environment

This position works primarily in a precision manufacturing environment and regularly interacts with CNC equipment, production machinery, maintenance equipment, and facility systems. The Preventative Maintenance Technician must consistently follow established safety procedures and work cooperatively with Production to complete maintenance activities while minimizing equipment downtime.
